Everyplace I read that compares the DO IS USM with the normal, really put down the DO IS USM. That lens's only strong point is the overall length, and the fact that the front element does not rotate.
The DO has issues with vignetting, distortions, and sometimes has issues focussing. Overall the quality of the DO IS USM is fairly good, however I see less good news on that lens.
