hi, just wanted to add my workaround – trying to use Zoom via Rosetta was too unstable for me (Mac Mini M1). What works, however, is to use OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) as the middleman – it runs using Rosetta and can pick up the video feed from EOS Camera Utility. OBS then creates a virtual camera that can be picked up by the native M1 apps (Chrome, Zoom etc).
Does this also allow you to use the EOS camera for FaceTime?

I found installing Camo onto my Mac and then enabling their Teams plugin, allowed the Eos plugin to work with the Teams application.

What setup do you use for the Software + hardware? I tried to install the EOS software utility but it doesn't seem to work on my M1. When I go to the application, it just shows the uninstall.

And then I was hoping to use the Camlink 4K, but that doesn't support the M1.

Confused - yet hopefuly - that y'all have got it to work!
I'm having the exact same issue with my M1 Big Sur MacBook Pro. I've uninstalled and re-installed and still the app is not showing up.

Anything new on using my R6 for FaceTime? I downloaded the webcam utility
but can't even find it. EOS utilities will stream live to the Mac but not to
Facetime. 🥲

I just tried it. It works with Zoom and Skype but I can't get it to show up as a video source in Facetime.
Here's a solution I found to get it working in FaceTime and other system applications:

This may also work with some third-party applications that are not compatible in the first place with the Canon EOS Webcam Utility.

"The method below requires disabling a feature of macOS's SIP (System Integrity Protection)"

Thanks for posting, but.. that's a big no-no for me.

Yeah that’s fair, I put the warning there for that reason. Though it doesn’t completely disable SIP it can somewhat compromise security so I would avoid it unless you know what you’re doing.

I just tried installing this driver in Monterey, on a 2014 Mac mini. My Canon 7D is seen in System Information, but I can't see it in FaceTime. Software version is 1.0, dated October 27, 2020.

Anyone get it to work without resorting to adding yet another piece of software? If not, I'll just uninstall it.

System applications and some 3rd party applications are not compatible with it by default but if you follow the GitHub steps from a few post above you can get it to work, however this may compromise the security of your system so you should read through the warning on the page and decide if this is a risk you are willing to take.

I’m just going to uninstall it then. As usual, Canon’s software sucks.

I downloaded “Cascable Pro Webcam”, and it was able to bridge FaceTime to my Canon camera through EOS Webcam Utility. So,

FaceTime -> Cascable -> EOS Webcam Utility -> Canon R6

The development team at Canon for some reason is unwilling or unable to do this.

Those camera brands would have sold more of their digital still cameras if they allowed them to double as webcams starting as early as 2003.
