Can't believe this, but... I'm returning the 64GB iPad

I'm happy to have a WiFi only iPad, battery life is the maximum it will be (3G iPad will be less and in certain conditions perhaps a lot less). I'm waiting on the HTC Evo 4G on Sprint which comes with hotspot functionality for up to 8 devices at 4G (DSL) speeds. This way I pay one fee to Sprint and I can tether up to 8 devices including my iPad, Macbook and whatever else I'll buy.
That battery life issue is only with 3G on. The battery is the same otherwise. This at least gives the option to use 3G if you like... then you'll see some decrease in battery life.
I agree that future technology will make things like this obsolete. Verizon has a little mifi card that can be setup and used with a wifi iPad. It works great actually (I have one). But for my wife, adding another piece of technology to her life, is a bad idea.

I wish she would have been happy with the wifi version though... could have saved $130.
You do realize that your wife most certainly CAN use the iPad in the car to do offline things, like reading iBook content or other already downloaded material. I bet if you talk to her about what she would like to do with it, she very well may be able to use it exactly like she wants in the car, waiting on the kids.
The iPad has plenty of functionality when not connected to the net. Heck, I use my iPhone on flights all the time to watch movies and shows, listen to music and play games.

No doubt... But she specifically mentioned web surfing, facebook, etc.
