I updated to iOS 11 beta 2 today from iOS 10.3.2 on an 10.5 iPad Pro. When I go to downgrade to 10.3.2, I get stuck in recovery mode. That is, everything installs fine, the firmware is verified by iTunes, the iPad restarts, the white Apple logo flashes, but then it quickly goes to recovery mode with the lightening cable and iTunes logo.

I was able reinstall iOS 11 beta 2 and boot up. When I went to downgrade again, same recovery mode loop.

Anyone else have this issue? I want to get back to 10.3.2, but can't seem to do so.

I was able to get to DFU mode and go back to 10.3.2 from iOS 11 beta 2.

I am experiencing the same issue, but my reason for downgrading is completely different. I upgraded to Beta 2 from the latest iOS 10, and had a very peculiar bug that prevented me from fully activating my 10.5 inch iPad Pro. As soon as I upgraded, I noticed the new iOS dock appearing on the setup screen. I managed to configure it with little issue the until the Analytics screen , where the dock obscured the Accept button. I was stuck, was unable to complete my setup. I couldn't rotate the screen since it was locked and I couldn't access the control panel. No matter how hard I tried, I was unable to get past the analytics screen.

After an hour or so, I decided to try and downgrade only to face the issue that the op and a few others are experiencing. This is it. I will never again install a beta. Since I live overseas, my only options is to wait a few weeks for a solution from apple, maybe trying DFU using a newer beta OR send my new iPad to Apple uncertain that the situation is going to be solved. Cautionary tale here folks.

Why are you installing a beta on a primary device? Apple clearly tells you NOT to do this. It's at your own risk. No need to send the device back just because it won't downgrade back. It appears to be a bug. Wait it out.

Also if anyone is keeping up - there appears to be a bug preventing the "erase all content and settings" feature from WORKING. Perhaps this has something to do with the phone/software NOT downgrading no matter what you do.

I suggest you wait it out or DFU.

Try restoring iOS 11 again. At least you’ll be able to use the device. Better than nothing, well, better than a really pretty block of aluminum, right?

Update: I successfully recovered from having a bricked phone. Restoring an iOS 11 ipsw worked.

Glad to hear it! I guess all we can do now is wait for another update. Wild thought, though, would inst
iOS 10.3.1 is still signed. Did you try to restore with that firmware instead ?

I was thinking about doing that, but I never did. Somebody wanna try? My phone is restoring iCloud backup and I don't wanna cancel it. Also, interesting how it's still being signed over a month after 10.3.2 was released. Has that ever happened before?

Agreed. iOS 11 Beta 2 IPSW works. But can't be running a half baked firmware for my needs. Will be returning my device tomorrow unless a downgrade fix presents itself.

Was able to restore back to iOS 11 beta from recovery mode (not DFU) using the ISPW above.

I thought about it, but don't believe the 10.5 iPad Pro has a 10.3.1 equivalent.

Sometimes it happens. Mostly when new major iOS release comes out, but I remember 9.3.3 last july was signed for a while as well.

And yeah.. Forgot the OP have the new iPad so my suggestion can't help, but for the others, I think its worth a try.

You’re right, I’m sure it doesn’t. Does Apple not test these things? Beta 2 has been two weeks in the making. I could start ranting about how Apple’s quality has gotten worse in general, but now’s not the time. Anyways, let’s hope for the best!

DFU mode with iOS 10.3.1 ipsw, 10.3.2 ipsw, and 10.3.3 beta 3 ipsw's all failed. I give up, looks like I will be restoring back to 11.0 beta 2 to have a usable device.

Welp, we tried. At least the devices are useable, right?

Does anyone have the 11.0 beta 1 ipsw? Perhaps a downgrade to that followed by a restore to 10.3.2 would do it.
