This is why I downloaded 10.11.0 and kept the installer on an external drive. Sucks everyone is having trouble downloading.

Tried on my work mac this morning and it absolutely flew up to 800MB I thought i was in luck, but no... got to 840MB and it dropped to 23 hours and now going between one and two days.

I contacted Apple about this and pointed them to this thread. So far they have only asked all canned response questions: Did you sign out and back in, restart, any errors, etc..

I replied and now waiting for another response.

Did you get a response from Apple? Ridiculous at this stage. Trying to download it since Sunday.

Yes they responded but only with canned generic technical support responses

"Restart your mac"
"Try in safe mode"
"Sign out and back in to App Store with Apple ID"

After a back and forth they then responded "What exactly is your problem?" .. even though I explained the situation thoroughly and give them the URL to this thread which I know they read.

I'm pretty sure they were just frontline support guys so I explained that it doesn't appear to be something we can fix on our Macs but a problem that needs to be reported to the relevant department regarding technical issues with the App Store but they couldn't seem to process what I was saying :D

Anyway, I managed to get it downloaded by leaving it for 3 days. I set my works iMac to never go to sleep and left it running, it did get faster towards the end but this whole thing has been one painful episode.

Just persist with it if you can, make sure your mac never sleeps so that the download can't be interrupted and it should eventually come down.

Same issue here. Trying to download the 10.11.4 update and saying it will take over 3 hours to download. Attempted the combo update from the apple site and it's just as slow. It's not my internet connection as I have a 60Mbps connection and everything else downloads super fast. Also never had a problem with slow speeds on apple updates until now. Seems like a server side issue of some sort that they can fix soon hopefully. Feels like i'm using dial-up otherwise.
