As a point of security, Apple has made it mandatory for all the new users of Apple Store to add the details of their Credit Card. but they have also given some freedom to the users.
Initially, its compulsory to add a CC card along with your new registration. but after your ID is created successfully, you will find the NONE option under payment options. So, you can select that and remove your credit card details for future.

I'm pissed! I had to buy a new iPhone because my old one got damaged. So the new one had 3.1.3 with the new bootrom so I'm stuck with a plain iPhone. Now I go to download apps from the AppStore and I can't even do that without a credit card on file. The apps I'm trying to download are free so I don't understand why I would have to have a card on file. My question to you guys is...is there a way around not having to put a card on file to download free apps?
Go to Settings-Itunes & App Store-Click Apple ID-View Apple ID-Payment-None this worked for me bc i had the same problem.

You know that the topic starter created this post in 2010?
Thanks for the detailed input. Maybe it will help someone else who uses the search feature for a solution.

go into itunes, try downloading a free app from the app store, when prompted for you itunes account, create a new one, an option for "no payment" will appear. Use that account on the iPhone or iTunes to download free apps
[doublepost=1525664991][/doublepost]Mine doesn’t give me the option to create a new account
