$1600 later and I can't purchase music from itunes

Well I appreciate you all trying. . .
https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=1378080#post1378080

I have no 3rd party firewall software, I have 10.3.8.installed already.
The itunes will still not let me access my music without an upgrade and it won't recognize my upgrade. 5 times I have tried!

I am at the end of my rope, I am just glad I didn't ever purchase an ipod.

I guess I'll go back to buying the cds.

You would think for $1600 a brand new IMAC G5 I would have a computer that could download music and wouldn't require hours and hours of hassle to just understand this stuff!

And of course the Applecare won't answer my questions because it's iTunes and iTunes sends me inane email answers as if I had a windows computer.

I am glad Apple stock has tripled but it won't stay there with this sort of product.

I wouldn't do this unless you're sure to be very careful. If you walk away and forget to deauthorize that computer, you've lost one authorization.

I meant downloaded it at the library, go back home and install it on your Mac...

Do you still have dial-up, number 1?

Number 2, I don't think you should have made this new thread as a response to your old one...

...but, heres some help:

Download iTunes 4.7.1 and delete every older version of iTunes... do a complete system search for iTunes and delete it (some other user, tell me if this is smart or not - thats the Windows way, I don't know about the mac way) and then install 4.7.1... Login to the Music Store, try to play a file and authorize your machine.

Brenda,
I read the thread, and the reason you're having problems is because you're still using iTunes 4.6. For some reason, iTunes 4.7.1 didn't install properly.
I have a sneaking suspicion that there actually is a working installed copy of iTunes 4.7.1 on your computer, but you also have a copy of iTunes 4.6 in a different place that you are running. In the System Profile program, when you click on iTunes, it shows you where it is located in the bottom pane. Usually this is /Applications/iTunes.app. Be sure that you are running iTunes from the exact location that it says 4.7.1 is installed at. Then check About iTunes and see what version is running.

If this doesn't help you, then I recommend trashing the iTunes application ONLY, then going to
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
and download the latest version again, run the installer, and try again. It may have not worked before, but that can happen occasionally. Try again.

Good Luck, and let me know if one of these helps.

Yes, exactly. The icon in the dock must be loading 4.6, you will have to track down 4.7 with the Finder and then update the icon in your dock.

I can't believe it was that simple.

Sorry for the new thread, thank you all!
