Does this not being able to receive txts outside ATT problem get resolved magically or do we each need to call ATT to get it resolved one by one?

I'd hope they don't want to do it one by one a million times...

Mine magically fixed it self the next day. No notification from ATT, I just tried every other hour with another family members cell phone (non ATT) and in the afternoon, it worked! Strange, but all seems well now.

OMFG this is B.S.

I have had this iphone since opening day, and i have yet to recieve a text message from a non AT&T customer, and pay for unlimited texting Seriously WTF do i do!!!???! Ive been calling "customer service". I am currently on my 49th minute on hold....

AT&T settings issue - fixed very quickly

I couldn't send or receive texts from my iPhone. I took it to an Apple store, who spent over 1/2 with it and determined it was an AT&T problem.

I then called AT&T's customer support and spoke to an iPhone specialist, who transferred me to someone else at AT&T. That person told me it was because AT&T's text settings for my phone were not correct. Fortunately, it took her only a minute or two to fix it and now it works just fine. Total time on the phone with AT&T (including wait time) was less than 15 minutes!

Problem Solved!!!

Here's what worked for me.

I called AT&T customer support and went through a bunch of troubleshooting hoops. We discovered I was receiving texts just fine... (go figure, that wasn't the problem.) The magic happened when I talked to Technical Support.

I was previously a Verizon customer and ported my number to AT&T. What happened was the inter-carrier hadn't yet updated me as a "Cingular" (AT&T) customer. The kind lady had to call them and have them update their system. Result? I can now receive texts.

This updating of the inter-carrier should normally take place automatically within a few days. In my case, someone jacked it up. Solution: Call customer care and have them check this out.

Hope this works out for you guys.

Peace

iphone fixes

for uk o2 customers

Go in to the settings menu on my iPhone and select General > Network > Cellular Data Network. Change the Cellular Data APN to payandgo.o2.co.uk. Leave username and password as is. Change the MMS APN to payandgo.o2.co.uk. Reboot the device for settings to take effect.

I'm having the same problem. I can send but I can't receive from verizon.

Just got my iphone, activated etc.. only problem I am having is I can not receive txt msgs.. but I can send them out and people get them no problem.. anyone having similar problems etc..?

When I went to the App store and sat with a tech, he called at&t and they both agreed that the problem was probably because when I switched from Verizon to At&t, my number wasn't completely pushed over to at&t. It was on both networks. So I left with a NEW phone, due to other problems, and with the promise that it would be solved within 24 hours. Well it's been 3 days and I'm still having problems. But it hasn't been a problem for other iPhone users like my wife and friend. So I guess we just have bad luck!:mad::eek:
