I changed the DNS servers, and it is still doing the same thing. I guess I'll have to try Windows, I really did not want to do that. I'm glad I'm not the only one having this issue. It worked fine when I updated my iPad 2, don't know what happened in the 4 hours in between.

I finally gave up and did the update with my Mac. Only I still had to change my DNS settings to get it to work. But I'm finally updated. No clue how to get the AppleTV update to work though. Can you change DNS on there somehow?

How do I go about changing the DNS server? I looked on my MBP in WIFI Prefs but didn't see the option to change. Is this something that I need to do on the router config online? I'm trying to get there now but I keep getting timed out.

Edit: Got it. Change in Prefs. Thanks. It's downloading now.

I downloaded it over Windows, and copied it to a flash drive and then rebooted in to Lion and loaded it, and it worked. Thanks for the help.

Same problem changing DNS did not work

Having the same problem on iPad 1, iPad 2, and 4s. I have tired every solution I can find except using a windows machine, I don't have one. I have changed my DNS on both the producs :confused:and computer. Restarted machine, updated every last thing i could update on my macbook pro. Turned off firewall temporarily, restored my iPad completely and set up as new device and still could not update. Very Frustrating! I called apple and they said the servers were slammed give it a few days. But I had my phone with me when I walked by an apple store yesterday and it worked immediately over their wifi? Might drive out there again and try my iPad 2 if it doesn't work soon.

Finally

We finally got it to work today on the iPad and iPad 2. With the DNS change to 8.8.8.8. Had tried it many times over the past few days, but it finally worked! :D

I was getting this error too. Though in my case it turned out to be my router that was at fault. After I reset it the update came through.

I changed the DNS on my Mac to 8.8.8.8. Wouldn't update the iPhone or iPad either via iTunes through the computer, or OTA. Changed the DNS on the iPad and was able to update OTA. (The irony is that I don't really care about updating the iPad, because it's going away on Friday when the new one arrives.)

Changed the DNS on the iPhone, no joy. I've tried at least five times, both OTA and connected to the computer. I spoke to Apple, and the CSR told me that I had to be patient. I have trouble believing that the servers are still getting slammed, but that's what I was told. So I guess I'm just giving up. :(
