What OP tried to do was to give this community a piece of advice from a mistake he did, so no one else has to suffer it, and all that he is getting is these kind of "you deserve it" posts.

i really regret to have posted it, because I just tried to help and I feel bad now. :(

Can you please explain how you got 10.10.2 if you aren't part of the Appleseed program or a registered developer? That's all most of us want to know.

Actually it's a seed build preview and like all seeds it has it's share of problems. Usually the beta releases are more stable versions. Also I don't think Apple is doing beta versions on incremental updates. The OP says it just showed up the App Store but that sure seems suspect if he/she is not registered Apple Seed/Developer.

They are pushing out seeds for the beta program, there were two 10.10.1 seeds. However Apple hasn't sent out anything for 10.10.2 yet, but the beta program has always been behind the developer program.

I have a simple solution! The last couple of days I was struggling with this crappy beta seed too. My solution was to just download the Yosemite installer from the Mac App Store again and to install it over my current system. It worked perfectly for me! Back on 10.10.1 now. I do also have a solution to this automatically install of developer beta's / pre-releases from Apple, which happened to me too. To turn off these beta notifications, go to System Preferences, then click the App Store icon. In the section that says Your computer is set to received pre-release Software Update seeds, click Change. Click Do Not Show Pre-Release Updates. You will no longer receive these notifications.

Don't understand and it doesn't seem to make sense. You are saying Apple is sending out betas of 10.10.1 to the million or so beta testers even though 10.10.1 is finalized?

I know we AppleSeed/Developers have 2 Developer Preview versions of 10.10.2. But I had no idea Apple was still supporting the beta program and still sending out betas of 10.10.1.

Of course this is not applicable to the OP since the OP claims to have 10.10.2. Unless you are saying the OP is a beta tester and installed a beta of 10.10.1 and is confusing with 10.10.2?

Also what are the build numbers of these beta 10.10.1 versions?

I am registered in the Apple Developer program for iOS, because I have a couple of apps on the App Store. I never said the contrary, just wanted to help.

I have a simple solution!

Thanks for your post! I will try that solution later today. :)

Being an iOS developer explains it all, because then you are also getting OSX seeds for FREE!

Good luck! Cheers

There WERE two 10.10.1 seeds released for the beta program. Obviously before 10.10.1 was finalized. The builds WERE 14B17 and 14B23.

I'm a registered iOS developer, but I haven't seen this seed show up in the Mac App Store updates.

What I understand is that iOS devs got the OSX Yosimite DP's for free. So why not the 10.10.1/.2 beta seeds and that the OSX devs did not get it the otherway rond. But perhaps I misunderstood...

I'm an Apple paid and registered developer (others might be part of a team) and I have received all the "seeds" pushed to me via the App Store. To get them two things have to happen, the first is to download the "seed" patch from the developer site to get the App Store to inform you of the seed. The second is to select in Preferences (as shown above) to receive the notification.

I have turned off the push notification and returned to 10.10.1 because of how bad the .2 seed is. By far after this is the worst beta seed of an established OSX that Apple has sent out. I had less problems with the first Beta of Yosemite than I did with the .2 seed (k and m).

Do not worry I have documented and written a bug report to both Apple and a software company about the issues.

BTW the only way to downgrade or return to a stable build is to do a CMD-R restore. Do not try and download an older "upgrade" because by doing so you will probably get a kernel panic and crash your system.

Yeah this Seed release broke my System

I did all the Beta's and Developer Previews and then was to update to the final release and now the 10.1.2 Seed release has Messed up my install. Not happy about that. Anybody have any workarounds? It does a short boot to user names and then comes up with a blank grey screen with icon crossed out. I'm thinking it never got through the update process and now I would like to revert to rescue my install. I do want to do a clean install, but when I'm ready, need to free up partition space. Any command line tricks or tools to either complete the process or undo the partial update?

Hey there, Just curious if applying a subsequent seed .3 beta might fix the problem? Of course, I can't event get to the desktop to update when that comes around, but perhaps with command line access it could be achieved? Anyways to do that

Mark
