unfortunately having the same result as others in the thread. Connected to CarPlay this morning and Waze didn’t update location until I quit the app and restart it

Not sure where in that article it relates to iOS breaking Google Maps, the link relates to issues with bluetooth phone calls and even searching the article there is no mention of Google Maps. Also in my experience, and others in this thread, Google Maps is working fine its just Waze that seems reluctant to update its location on starting up the app.

Also for what its worth i've had no issue with phone calls in the car either with the phone plugged in so CarPlay (not sure how phone calls work with CarPlay in action) but also just normal Bluetooth connection and the phone in my pocket etc.
I do believe it's affecting people with wireless carplay. Ever since 15.2 wireless carplay will not auto launch anymore for me after about a minute after driving. Now google maps does launch but it's just a black picture and only by opening google maps on my iphone 13 pro max and then closing it, will google maps return to normal. Having said that, it only happens like 50% of the time. I think I saw it somewhere on youtube that 15.2 is putting something to sleep to conserve energy or something like that.

On my 2 iPhone 12 pro Max phones in my 2019 Subaru (wired CarPlay and google maps also affected) I’ve had to go to settings>general>CarPlay and forget the offending vehicle and then reconnect it. This works for a while but isn’t permanent. My 2016 Chevy truck isn’t having this issue, just the subaru.

Had a play this morning and started Waze on my phone prior to plugging in and it started up fine, picked up location no issue and then worked as expected on my journey. Seems it could be an issue starting it via CarPlay although its the only thing that doesnt work. Apple Maps and Google Maps work fine starting from CarPlay and have no connection issues to two different cars.

Right, used it yesterday starting Waze both times from my phone then plugging it in and it worked fine. This morning i started Waze after plugging in from the CarPlay screen and it worked fine as well. No idea if its fixed or just a one off.

It’s been intermittent after the update, more misses than hits though…

I'm finding it never works if you plug the phone in first and then try opening Waze either on the phone or CarPlay screen, if you open Waze on your phone prior to plugging the phone into the car it seems to work ok.

What problems are you facing exactly? I use a wired (USB) CarPlay in my car and can use Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze with no issues. Running the latest versions of everything, no betas.

I'm finding that if i plug the phone in and then launch Waze from the CarPlay screen or phone the map is either stuck where Waze was last used or it has my location but doesnt load all the map and as you move it doesnt update to show you moving. If i start Waze prior to plugging in to the car it works fine both on the phone and Carplay.

I can use both Apple Maps and Google Maps with no issue so it seems to be limited to Waze.

I have had the same issue with Waze for a while too, I have pretty much moved to apple maps. I really wish Waze would fix the issue, I have wireless carplay in my car '22 Tuscon, but my wife has a 19' Kona with wired carplay and I would have the same issue

For me this sort of thing happens only when I quit Waze completely (press on its power button in the app, so it goes to “sleep”). If this is the case, it fails to awaken from the CarPlay as well and I end up with a screen like this:

However, if Waze is “not asleep” and keeps tracking my movements behind the scene, it works. ??‍♂️

Yeh that probably is what happening with mine aside from if i quit it completely and try starting it again from CarPlay it still doesnt load properly, it needs to be started from the phone without it plugged into the car.

As a slight aside it seems somehow my CarPlay customisations have managed to reset at some point. Went it to remove an app last night that was now CarPlay enabled after an update and it was all blank, went back in and it had reset to show everything in CarPlay so now need to set them up again for the two cars i use.

Just updated my 13 Pro Max, will give it a try tomorrow morning when taking the kids to school

Anyone had any luck with 15.2.1 it’s strange today it was working on but yesterday it wasn’t so not sure

Mine, so far, has been working. No freezes, yet. I do have a suspicion that Waze will need to update the app to fix any lingering issues.

After the update mine has worked well. Once going to get dinner last night and then this morning on the way to work

Yeah since a first hick up it’s working much better, after all it was a iOS issue where I thought it was an app one, glad 15.2.1 fixed it, Waze on CarPlay is working well now

I still get the occasional hiccup but at a much lower frequency than before.

Overall CarPlay has been more responsive in 15.2.1 than 15.2(Both Spotify and Waze would hang up)

Hoping they will continue to iron out the wrinkles

I have had Waze issues with GPS being stuck on the map, as stated previous by other peeps.Damn shame Waze (Google) won’t fix the issue with CarPlay
