These are the great bags fpr my ipad security. I like the second one most. Thanks for the display.

Folks, I doubt you ever saw Platforma - a new

iPad messenger bag from Strotter. I am the founder of the company. :) This is however more than just a bag. It converts in 2 secs into a backpack, and into a mobile desk - hands-free style, meaning you can use the iPad while standing up with both hands free to type. To give you idea of its size: a standard letter size sheet of paper / pad just fits perfectly inside. We made many samples trying to get that perfect proportion - and we did, according to our customers: they say we nailed it. The bag looks and feels compact, yet not too small - and it fits a lot, making bigger bags or backpacks unnecessary. BTW, 11" MacBook air fits, too. (but not the 13)

Some pics.

I use a Filson "Original Briefcase", ... Highly recommended!

Image

The Original is a perfect choice. I have the slightly deeper "laptop" version in olive and the canvas molds to your body. Works great over the shoulder; it or the Original is great for an iPad. If you get a couple of tins of wax to treat them Filson bags last forever

Just put my WaterField Muzetto leather 10″ portable Copper bag up on ebay.

I loved that bag Waterfield makes so great long lasting products.

Selling it because I went to the way of the iPad mini and seems like to much bag now.

If anyone is interested.

I recently moved from an old Tumi Alpha briefcase to a new Tumi Alpha Knox Backpack to carry all the daily work gear. I have always appreciated the look and durability of the Tumi black ballistic nylon.

And both my iPad 2 and my iPad Mini are well-protected in dark coffee brown Saddleback Leather cases.

for my Ipad Mini, this is the bag i am using. A Timberland bag with rain cover, grab handle and a bottle water pouch on the side. i can even carry some accessories (power adapter) as it has some extra spaces. the best part is i got this for only $12.

Just picked up this over the shoulder / cross body sling from the Men's Coach Store for a steal at 40$. Fits the ipad mini and pretty much everything else. High quality of course.

"Manly bags"

It is very interesting to read all of the various negative comments/opinions regarding the bags that MEN want to carry. I would think if you have an opinion such as this, you should just move on to the next thread...

First, let me start off by saying that I am a 40 year old professional with a wife and two kids. I split a lot of my time between Washington, DC area and NYC. I am also originally from a smaller PA town with probably not the most progressive thinking in the world... Can you say camo is an appropriate dress code for almost anything...

I am very comfortable with myself and really do not care what others think. I use a bag that is FUNCTIONAL for my needs, STYLISH for both professional and casual use, and COMFORTABLE while wearing it both on short and long durations. I have tried a few different bags. Some ended up being too small, others too stiff, and others just did not look as good as this end on the website or catalog.

Have I got stares, comments, and even laughs? Yes, but again, I do not care. On the other hand, I have also had many other professionals ask me where I got my bag after a meeting has ended, while waiting for a train, and even walking along the sidewalk.

In my opinion, cost should not be the main reason to get a bag or not. If you are going to use it, then why not spend what you can. This mentality would be the same if you look at cars. Everyone should be driving something like a Kia Rio. I do understand that not everyone has an unlimited income (myself included), but you work out how things will get purchased. You save, create budgets to where any extra money can go towards a purchase you want to make. Cut back on the Starbucks or McDonalds breakfasts.

In all of my purchases, I buy thing from where I feel I can get the best bargain, best quality, and will need my needs best. This can be anywhere from Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or Target to some of the various designer houses in the world like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, or Bottega Veneta.

So, for those of you who do have or may be afraid to carry a bag... Screw what others think. Do it and be proud.

I am amused as a female who likes "manly bags" the length of this thread. I am also looking for that sleek bag to hold my stuff along with my mini and yet look small, gotta a lot of laughs! Guess we are not so different after all!

Definitely like the form factors of the Muzetto bags, many of the Timbuk2 bags. My preference is for a "north south" or vertical bag, like a padded insert for the iPad, prefer a flap as well as a top grab handle, and an ouside open slash pocket. Tom Bihn makes these in a unpadded small Cafe bag and the padded Risetto series of which the smallest fits the regular iPad. I seemed to have lost or donated my Cafe bags (can't find) and the mini gets lost in the Ristretto. Any other ideas? I am glad I am not the only one getting too large of a collection of bags!

You might be interested in the Eagle Creek Tablet Courier. It has a top handle and a padded section for an iPad along with an open pocket in the back. The size is pretty compact for these types of bags, but be aware it is designed for the full-size iPad. The Wirecutter chose the backpack version in the same line for best computer backpack. There is not much feedback for the tablet version yet, but there are some good reviews for the larger Guide Courier model. The Tablet Courier design seems intended for someone who prefers lots of good organization pockets and very lightweight but durable materials. It seems particularly well-suited for travel.

I'd be interested to see if anyone has more experience using this bag.

And for an even smaller more padded/protective bag it's hard to go wrong with something like the Scout 2 bag from STM, which also has the desired design features.

ipad toting for men :)

The best thing for someone who wants to carry around an ipad while confirming/enhancing their masculinity would be something that alters the shape or size of an ipad as minimally as possible.
That means no satchels or mini-backpacks. Trust me, they look bad. If you don't mind carrying it under your arm like you would a newspaper or book, then you should just get a case that is protective without being bulky. I would go for something that is low key and preferably matte or leather.

I carry my iPad in my Camelbak when I'm not in class and working in the summer. Fits perfect and I think it qualifies as "manly".

I am using a Fjällräven bagpack. It's a product made for children. Perfect size. I can additionally put a Clint Eastwood "Dirty Harry" DVD inside. Then it'll be very manly!

Why?

It's simple: to avoid the murse look, you have to go big. I haven't seen a nice design that fits just an iPad and not look like a purse.

On the bright side, with a good design you don't lose much going bigger, yet you gain a lot. For example, the Timbuk2 bag like the one below is what I use. It's light and strong because it's made out of hi tech material, so you don't compromise on weight. It's pretty slim when you only carry an iPad, yet it can accommodate a 13" laptop and a jacket among other things. I like the fact that's it is wider as it rest more securely on my back - narrow bags have the tendency to twist or flip. I don't need it to be any narrower for any reason.

So, if you are looking for a bag that is just wide enough to accommodate an iPad, ask yourself this question: "Why?"
