The scene size is the main difference, but that puts the usability of a lot of apps into the next stratosphere. And yes, not the best forum for questions like this.

This is a very inexpensive bag. I wanted as small a bag as possible and this one is just right in width and height to hold my iPad in a neoprene sleeve with enough room depth-wise to hold some other stuff. It's better made than I expected for the price, (I didn't have high expectations) and since I don't take my iPad out much it should last me quite awhile.

Being olive drab canvas it doesn't look girly at all.

My first thought after buying my iPad was to find a decent case for it. I ended up getting a Booq sleeve since that was the only thing available at the time here in Sweden where the iPad still hasn't even been released yet. Over the next few weeks I began searching online for a better alternative and decided to go with a Switcheasy Nude case. I also have an anti-fingerprint film on the screen. Anyway, to get to the point, I still wanted a nice classy bag to put my iPad in when carrying it around. I found my perfect case but unfortunately they don't ship outside the U.S./Canada. Still, I thought I'd at least share what I had found:

I still haven't found a small (under 11")horizontal messenger bag that has a masculine look, but also doesn't look like a laptop/net book bag. Has anyone?

Have you checked Levenger? They have a couple that looked like they would work in a catalog from Christmas i discovered the other day. They aren't cheap - but they are another source for nice bags...

Ok guys. I am on a search for the ideal carry bag. But this is more than a search for the case...it is an image issue.

How are you carrying your case and avoiding looking too Geekish, girly, or whatever term may apply.

In other words, what is the best way to carry the iPad discreetly.

Currently I am using a 9x12 neoprene case that is a little too large. It was for an 11" netbook...but in a lot of regards, it is pretty nice. It has two front facing pockets that are quite large as each one that opens extends all the way across to the other side such that they are over lapping. I have my pad in a Incase Grip that is close fitting and not too much bigger than the iPad...but it does eliminate several options. I like the freedom of having the iPad as slim as possible for most uses, well protected, and it slips right into it's bag when it is time to travel.

But, the neoprene case is a little too big. So, I am trying to find a smaller one...like for a 10" netbook. I am also trying to find one that has a shoulder strap as an option.

I kind of like this one so far:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180515893450&_trksid=p2759.l1259

But I don't like how it opens ALL the way. My current one only opens along the top and then 2/3 along the sides. If I am sliding the iPad in and out a bunch, it is easy to do.

So, what do you think...would you wear this bag out into public? I mean to places like grocery shopping, lowes, to the work out gym (and not stuffed in the workout bag).

Ladies...I don't mean to exclude you...you have it good...I have always envied you all when it comes to tech gear. From the days of the Newton that BARELY fit in an overside slacks pocket...to now with the iPad. I would be so easy to get a bigger purse...and what an awesome setup that would be.

Thanks for any feedback!

I use this military bag I bought off Amazon:

It doesn't look like a purse and holds my iPad inside of a Yoobao knock-off and then inside of a the iPad Neoprene sleeve perfectly. I figure that way if it starts raining, the neoprene sleeve should keep the ipad from getting wet.

Looks just the Salvatore Ferragamo bags. They were a little on the small side for my taste.

Looks great, though.

The bigger the bag... the more i shove in it!

I thought it was a nice leather plain looking option that someone male might like. If i was near a Levenger store i'd go check it out.... but for me i think i'm going to try to get the Muzzeto (sp??) for my birthday in November.

I wish i could just buy all the bags i see i like! :D

I hear you. I currently have two bags and the Muzzeto (in copper) on order.

I'm trying to convince the wife to let me try to order a custom bag (similar to the ones I attached above but in a different leather color), but she has put her foot down. The reason I say "try" is that the company is very selective in what Special Orders they grant since everything is hand made and they do not want to put their other products behind schedule.

I could easily see myself having a dozen bags by now if money was no object and the wife gives the thumbs up. :D

I dunno - all those satchel, messenger bags, tote bags look like purses to me. If I am just carrying my iPad, I just lug it in the Apple case it's always in. If I have to bring a bunch of stuff, I put it in a backpack. Simple, yet manly!

I've had one laptop backpack over the years and always felt it was not easy to get to things. Every messenger bag I have owned has been far easier to use.

Now with the iPad, getting it in and out of the messenger bag while standing in line is a piece of cake and I could not imagine using it as much as I do if I had it housed in a backpack.

Obviously, YMMV. ;)

I bought the one pictured and I love it. Very mannish, and for 3.00 they'll include a faux chest-wig. JUST KIDDING!!!
