Every day when I wake my computer in the morning I get a message that says that my computer restarted due to a problem. I thought that maybe it was Plex that was causing the crash. But I have turned off Plex and still have the same problem. Apple support stated that it might be my VPN (which I rarely have on), but they told me that Apple is not working on a fix for this.

Anyone having similar issues with Plex and/or a VPN or just random Catalina crashes in general?

mbp 13 2017 TB 10.15.2 here. Fresh install with practically no additional software. Had 2 crashes after sleep so far within a week or two. Never had issues like that with Mojave.

Basically, when you wake it up from sleep, you see a "white noise screen" and can't do anything. But during the last such issue, I waited a bit, the laptop went to sleep again, and then I pressed the button, and everything was normal.

Was really hoping 10.15.2 would be stable here. So far I think this is an issue with an OS rather than my laptop.

I had same issues with 10.15.2. I rolled back to 10.15.1 and the kernel panics at sleep ceased. It appears to be a 10.15.2 issue. Many seem to experience the problems of the minor upgrades.

I have no idea why this is happening but the same thing was plaguing my 2012 MBA after Catalina 10.15.2 update. I tried several things to make it stop. What finally worked for me is this: System Preferences>Energy Saver>Battery. Uncheck "Put hard disks to sleep when possible". I also unchecked "Enable Power Nap while on battery power". Haven't had the problem since. Hope that helps.

We think that it's related to the power-nap and the graphics card driver - what we've noticed is that when it wakes from sleep, sometimes the graphics is really choppy and sluggish - noticeable more when the safari Favourites page is open, and you open a folder on the dock into grid mode - for example if you have the applications there...

This had been observed previously in 10.10 and 10.14 but was fixed in later releases - seems that when apple release a major OS, all the bugs from the previous major release resurface.

What seems to trigger it is the arrival of mail or messages, where the display is activated for a few seconds - previously when this happened the machine would panic or just freeze next time it would go to sleep and then wake after the choppy graphics event if during sleep power-nap activated with e-mails of messages.

This is my first and last Apple machine. Mid 2015 Macbook pro...same issue...send it for repair for screen flickering they charged me 800 euros ..the machine went back 3 times for the same problem..later they changed the screen when it is in my opinion the ribbon cable since on external monitor had no problem. The worst service I have ever seen....then crashes all the time waking up....using the latest and greatest of Catalina....or rather Katrina disaster.

I both had crashes on my mbp 15" and mba both 2019 models on 10.15.2. I updated both to 10.15.3 and they have so far been ok, no crashes. I think it was a software bug.

I do not believe the ribbon cable is a seperate serviceable part to the display, though it does sound like had quite a bit of bad experience in general.

Same issue. Did a clean install on my new 16" MBP. Turning off Power Nap resolved the issue.

Got a 16"MBP and have the same issue here. Looks like it appeared next after the 10.15.4 update.

Definitely appears to be power nap related, testing on my 15" 2019 model with powernap disabled there has been no graphics card issues, and I've managed to achieve the following....

With powrnap enabled was lucky to have an uptime of a day...

Allright, i'll disable it and see if it wil change something.
Thanks for the tip.

Powernap has been trouble off and on since the day of launch - a nice gimmick, but not really a great deal of use in the real world.

Update to 10.15.5 and when I select the sleep mode when it turns on again I get the error

Then update the version of supplement 10.15.5 and I also have the same problem in sleep mode.

Are there any suggestions or solutions?

Cheers

Have you tried disabling sleep and power nap.

its like this right now

I close the computer and 7-8 minutes pass and when I open it it appears in a black screen. You have to press the power button so that it turns on and then the power-on error appears.

Same. MBPr late 2013

Hello

I was able to solve the problem,

What I did was erase the mac from scratch, upload the mac without any back up and any information. Then I deleted it again and uploaded it with the last backup I had and it worked for me.

The other problem that I have not been able to solve is that of the virtual hard disk that does not let me erase it.

But I can live with it.

What do you mean by "virtual hard disk"?
