Looks like a minor update to a decent display from Samsung. Not expecting to see a price change for the new models.

I'm hoping for Samsung to offer an updated 57" G9 with USB-C and/or Thunderbolt ports out. The only problem is the broken DPI scaling in MacOS doesn't work with monitors that have different DPI than Apple's own monitors.

Not by Apple's defintion of Retina.

And resolution is a word with various meanings, but in optics is usually constrained to two concepts:
1) angular resolution;
2) linear resolution.

The first is the most fundamental for human eyesight. The second is useful for constructing objects.

2160 lines on a 32" (diagonal, 16:9) screen is not especially high resolution. But given the angular resolution of human vision, at normal TV viewing distances it looks impressive.
I am using this website to calculate it. http://www.tools.rodrigopolo.com/display_calc/
A 4K display with 138 PPI from 25 inches away, which for me is very reasonable distance from a large 32 inch monitor, it is in fact "retina."
