In a van down by the river
I have gone through a similar thing a few years back, when I wanted to change my Apple ID to a new iCloud Account. You simply cannot, iCloud is an Apple ID, so changing your current Apple ID to an iCloud account, is the same as changing an Apple ID for another Apple ID. I simply had to bite the bullet, and accept that purchases made on my other account were gone.
If your Apple ID is already an iCloud account, you can’t change it to a different iCloud account, as far as I am aware.

It's not. My Apple ID is a @outlook.com email address. I have a new @icloud.com email address I created through my existing Apple ID @outlook.com. I'm able to use that email address but I'm not able to change the Apple ID to that @icloud.com nor am I able to make that my primary email address.

I know about you. I was replying to someone else.

If it's possible, it's not working for me.
I know. I just wanted to point out to the other poster that it's not impossible.

I don't know what the problem in your case could be besides possibly the 30-day thing. There could also be a temporary problem on Apple's side.

Apple provides the steps and conditions how to do this in the article pasted above. It is indeed possible to do it.
Not if you are replacing said Apple ID with an existing iCloud account email address. By default, and iCloud email address is an Apple ID

Turns out you were bang on with this. Today was the 30-day mark and I was able to change over my AppleID to the new email address. Thanks!
Did you have to sign out and sign back in with your new Apple ID email address on all your devices, or did the changes reflect without having to do this?

I am in the middle of this exact same process and knowing this ahead of time would be awesome!

You selected your @icloud to be your new Apple ID and were able to immediately delete your @outlook that was your Apple ID?

Does this update to all of your devices so that you don't have to log out and log back in on your other devices?
