I can put silly stickers on top of my messages so that you can't even read the words, but I can't change text colors that haven't changed literally since imessage was invented.

I just want some different colors in my life.

You can't change it, probably never will be able to without a JB so either accept it and stop complaining or go an buy a phone that allows you to do it.

It is a really simple option available to you.

Dude... Blackberry was the King of smartphone good times... does it mean they did things right everytime? no. today, they hardly exist.

Nobody knows if Apple will make any mis-steps in the future which could lead to a precipitous decline. What we all know at this point in time is that they are selling huge volumes now. So... do I trust the judgement of of highly paid professionals with vast amounts of experience or an armchair warrior who plays on message forums?

I disagree with your wish for all sorts of bells and whistles, and therefore happen to agree with Apple. You already have these options with Android and the problems that customisation brings, I want something different.

Stickers are stickers and don't really mean anything in particular, while the colors have built-in meaning for the whole ecosystem basically that Apple has set up from the beginning of iMessage. That type of difference is what more than likely plays more of a role in it all.

There's always Android. The only way to get Apple to change is to do it by voting with your money. If enough people that feel like you were to move to Android then Apple would potentially consider adding the feature you switched for.

Case in point, stickers... Line, wechat, whatsapp, etc all had stickers and iMessage was taking a hit so Apple added them.

Seriously, relax. I can't believe that it's so important for someone to change the colors of some bubbles in iMessage. Just let it go and move on with your life. My god.

They pretend they understand market trends. The attempt with ios 10 messages is pretty pathetic - childish nonsense really. If they really wanted to follow trends - they would be up with dual sim phones, more customization options, (if you don't want to customize, then don't), opening up the API for casting using custom protocols, etc

I think the childish is pretty much they focused on... "mommy i want iphone for xmas!" - sure honey...

Adults dont really care about stickers etc but kids... a great market area to get more customers because adults are moving away and they really dont get android users to switch to iphone.

they should be focusing more on letting us customize and not childish, pointless ideas.
I use these "childish, pointless ideas" daily. It's fun!
I have one friend who does that... So annoying. Oh my god. Now I have to try and interpret what he's saying? Ugh.
You have to know your audience, but I have fun with it.

He'll get a free iPhone 8.

So Apple put stickers in to entice kids, to buy iPhone from android, but that type of marketing doesn't work on adults?o_O

And that's why plenty of adults use those features. Got to love stereotypical overgeneraliztions that don't really end up meaning much one way or another anyway.

I really miss the times when Jobs was at the helm.Birthday animations in messages,My little pony like stickers, emojis.Whats Apple coming to?I cant believe its the same company which revolutionized computing with iPhone,iPad,Macs,iPods.

@OP Seems a very sillgy suggestion,no offence but my recommendation would be to get a Pixel phone. You can do whatever you want with it.ANYTHING can be possible on Android

It wont work on mature adults but I soon expect to see Timmy and Co walk out on stage in teletubbies costumes to try anyway because that's what Apples come to these days

Speaks volumes given they are the most valuable brand in the world and they make in a quarter what most fortune companies make in a year. So yes this is the new Apple, but you were pretty cogent until the hyperbole started.

This is never going to change. It's part of the brand. People talk about blue and green messages and everyone knows what that means. If you want fancy colors to make your phone look cartoonish, well you know...go get an android.

Yeah those colorful see-through chunky iMacs and their puck mice.

Stereotypical or not but those are clearly marketed for kids and teens. I dont believe a second that they were thinking adults when creating them. Just getting more youth to stay with their iphone.

I don't really think it's childish. Many adults paint their house every couple of years because they get tired of the same colors all the time. All I want is just some different colors in my life. It's been blue since iMessage came out and green before that.

Pretty harmless to have a setting:
Choose color for your text messages
Choose a color for your iMessages

It wouldn't be standardized across the ecosystem, which is likely why it's not something Apple offers.

REALLY!? Jobs!? Yea, with those candy bubble PCs, tacky skeumorphism, and cracked plastic galore. Truly the epitome of professional, functional designs.

I understand it wouldn't be standard across the ecosystem - but does apple really think it's customers are so dumb that if they manually change the colors to something else, they wouldn't remember? OH NO! I thought that was a text!!!! It was an iMESSAGE!!!! I can't go on like this.

Don't think it's about the customers being dumb as much as it is having those colors carry across the same meaning across the ecosystem no matter which device or OS version or user is involved.

It's also a marketing thing. When you see an image of text messages somewhere the blue makes it identifiable as iMesssage.

It's a shame that jailbreaking is really the only way to customize this sort of stuff.
