This became stupid from a valid question (UPDATE)
Forget stupid comments and asking of getting free service. The original question was straight and valid.
Why should AT&T FORCE YOU (right, force down your throat) into a data plan if you don't want one?
So I think I found a good solution:
I have a pay as you go Tmobile, it costs 0 to maintain, and 10c/min for phone calls and messages. HOWEVER, I put that sim into an Android Smartphone (Tmobile samsung exhibit II $200 in Amazon). I disabled DATA over the network (very easy), and use the internet in my home and work over WIFI (free).
When I am on the road and I want/need data (less than 10 days a year), I simply logon Tmobile and pay either $2 or $3 for ONE day of unlimited phone/text/data at either 3G or 4G speeds depending on what I pay. And that's it.
As an added advantage I bought the phone on Amazon and called Tmobile to SIM Unlock the phone (I have been their client for more than 3 months).
Now I have a Samsung Exhibit II 4G, SIM unlocked, Rooted, with free internet over WIFI, and I only pay for data strictly when I want to use their data network (rather than forced into a plan by the SOBs of AT&T). Other than that (99% of the time) I simply use it for free on WiFI. That's what I wanted from the beginning.
WHY SHOULD YOU PAY AT&T FOR A SERVICE THEY ARE NOT PROVIDING.
