I could imagine it would be frustrating, I didn't even think about them not being linked. Most my e-mail is personal use, the place I work is still stuck in the fax age.

No worries-

Also I need to note that "push" is now working again using the custom iCloud iMap settings. This means the biggest problem remaining is use of the archive function of ios5.

One way I found around it is to make a subfolder of "archive" on iCloud Called iOS. I then set my trash/deleted items folder to be that folder- i also turned off removal of trash items. Next I started having my assistant move all messages out of that folder and into archive. Yes it seems silly but it works.

And this means basically this method is mostly functional now. Especially up to ios4 levels except for spOtty push at times.

OS 5 update causing trouble with SMTP server

I just updated my iPhone 4G to iOS5.1.1

The main issue (which I never had before the update) is that I can no longer SEND email to any address that is not on my own server.

I host many sites and have many emails set up, 4 of which are on my iPhone. I can send between those email accounts but not to an external account such as an AOL or Yahoo account.

Puzzling! I spoke with AT&T and Apple tech support but they don't get it.

During the OS update the default AT&T SMTP server (cwmx.com) was simply removed. I tried using it but it no longer works.

So how would I be able to SEND an email to someone other than myself???

If this was my issue - I'd remove or disable all email accounts on your iPhone, and add at least one of them back on - by itself and see if the problem still exists. Otherwise you may be in for a backup and restore of your phone. Just my 2cents
