What do people watch on Disney+ apart from Star Wars?
🤔

All the Disney Classics, my nieces and nephews still watch them over and over.

I watch the Avengers and Star Wars franchises, I let it play in the background when working from home.

My Disney+ includes Hulu as well, so that brings really good shows (Handmaid's tale, Harlots, etc.). It also includes National Geographic, so we get to watch all sort of documentaries too.

They can all literally suck it.

I cancelled Amazon Prime after 15+ years (or whatever how long it existed) out of principle recently.
I also cancelled HULU and HBO Max.

The only reason I still have Disney+ is because it is included by my internet provider and Netflix because they never blocked me for some reason and I am still paying in Mexican Pesos. I also have Paramount+ because they somehow never deactivated my account even though I cancelled my IAP trial over 1,5 years ago.

Never paid for TV+ either. There is always a 3+ months trial somewhere

Lots of good, classic action movies Enemy of the State, Crimson Tide etc, and plenty of family friendly movies for whenever we can get them all in the house at the same time.

Plenty of old cheesy detective type series like Criminal Minds or Alias that are a kind of chewing gum for the brain - plots so formulaic that you don't have to think... It's nice to kick back and not have to engage the brain after the kids have gone to bed.

sorry but i am not paying for adverts. i get why they want to do it and why netflix etc are doing it but it feels wrong to pay for adverts lol.

if i'm being shown ads then i expect to be getting access for free (well, i know my data is what pays for it lol). companies are far too greedy. they want our data AND money.

It's more like you are being paid or given money (via a discount) to allow the service to run ads.

A pay/ad hybrid model is how content has been delivered for ages including television, newspapers and magazines. At least with these premium streaming services, subscribers have a choice to go with ads or ad-free.

The hire doesn't really suggest that. That's just what you're used to seeing from companies that cater to price sensitive clientele.

I've seen less push from Apple to goose the Apple TV numbers up and more interest into gaining more lucrative live streaming options like they have brokered with the MLS.

We don't buy Apple products because they're the price leader. Few people are buying iOS devices and Mac devices and thinking that $9 a month is too exorbitant.

The money is in live streaming that's why Apple has been sniffing around College Athletics and other Pro options.

A bit of perspective. Walt Disney owns ESPN along with more than a dozen other properties. Even with that Disney's Market Cap is 260 Billion. Apple's Market Cap is 10x Disney.

So anything Disney can do with their properties like ESPN, Hulu, ABC can be done by Apple at nearly 10x the capitalization.

Use your noggins guys, remember sitting in front of a TV is where you turn your brain off, sitting in front a computer is where you turn your brain on.

Doesn't your Disney+ include Hulu as well? I get mine from my mobile provider and it comes all together, they are the same company basically.

I have had it free for years, it has never stuck in my household, nobody watches anything on it.

Fun fact, at one time they considered putting a 60 second ad every time you booted up macOS.
And guess who held the patent on that idea? The famous bean counter, Stephen Paul Jobs.

“Jobs envisioned the ad-supported version of Mac OS 9 displaying a 60-second commercial from a "premium" company at startup, with the ads occasionally being automatically swapped out for new ones over the Internet. He also visualized the use of contextually relevant ads, such as an Epson printer ink ad being displayed when the user's printer was reporting that it was low on ink.”

I don’t mind ads if they
1. Weren’t repetitive.

2. Didn’t randomly interrupt at a bad time

3. The ad showed at consistent times.

Ads should show at beginning and leave it at that.

Get ready for the next price hike for the no ads tier if/when this is implemented.

The price hikes will continue even if this is not implemented.

Many people can no longer afford the high subscription prices they are paying and this is needed to retain customers, All services seem to be trying to implement this.

That’s fine you don’t need to subscribe

The entire beauty of streaming was to have low prices.

That was the goal for the customers but the goal for the companies was to eventually make money.

Streaming services operated at a loss for years to grow the businesses. Since the price of borrowing has gone up so much, companies can no longer rely on cheap money and endless money from investors. The time for taking a loss to grow the companies is over.

I have Apple TV+ through Apple One so it's probably going to be there for a while. I also like the Apple TV integration with other streaming services. Content isn't that great though. I just cancelled Netflix... again as I found I almost never watched it. I'm thinking of dumping Amazon Prime as they are starting to aggravate me with constantly taking free classic TV shows and turning them into pay shows. YouTube TV I got for a limited time discount but that's the most expensive so I'll likely cancel that soon too.

The others I get for free or on a very good discount: HBO Max, Paramount+, Disney+/Hulu, Sirius XM.

I usually jump from streaming services depending what their content is. I like Apple TV but their current content doesn't justify the $10 a month price. Saying that, if an ad tiered level is available for $6-7 I would more enticed to stick with it.
