First of all, very nice job on that... I actually want to try it out on my MBP I'm planning on buying.

2 questions, how hard is it to make the carbon fiber align or stretch out smoothely with a blow dryer instead of an actual heat gun (I don't have a heat gun, but it seems it would take a long time to make it smooth with a blow dryer), and is there any special technique you used to cut out the Apple logo?

Thanks ;):apple:

Blow dryer works fine. A very sharp knife, patience and a steady hand is required for cutting out the logo. Take your time and you will do fine.

It is not as good a fit as you did with the razor knife but I am ver happy with my iCarbon skin of the same material.:D And I only spent 10 minutes on putting it all on, lol.....

Unrelated to Macs but could you post a picture of your car's interior with the CF skin applied? Just curious :)

Did the same to my 15" Unibody MBP

Wow, great install. Looks very very sleek.

I did the same mod, same material to my MBP a few months ago. Looks awesome, but the Apple Logo is a pig to cut out accurately. Once done it looks amazing though, and feels good too. The downside was that I have just had an issue (applecare warranty) with my screen. Apple replaced the screen with no problem (the issue was wholly unrelated of course to the vinyl wrap). the screen assembly is replaced now with a brand new one, but of course as it is a whole top-case assembly I lost my Carbon Fibre skin on the lid ! - will get round to re-applying it and will post some images. Well worthwhile doing though and as the OP states, if you do have to remove the film (as I did for warranty, to ensure there was no damage that caused the fault under the skin) - it really does not leave any residue. The only tiny bit of residue from the adhesive that was left, rubbed off with the ball of my finger in a second.

Here you go. 2007 Toyota Camry SE V6. I have also just covered the piece just above the storage compartment in the last photo where the A/C controls are, but have not taken a photo of that yet.

I entered this thread thinking it was going to be something cheesy, but that looks quite good. Well done!

Who cares that the accelerator sticks  That is one sweet trim job OP....

Let's stop spreading the idiotic media hype! The accelerator could ONLY stick if you have two or three carpet mats in the car and they get caught under the bottom lip of the gas pedal (incidentally the media neglected to ever mention that this is possible in ANY CAR). That whole mess was a stupid media hype stemming from one very unfortunate and sad accident where several people were killed due to the fact that the driver was too stupid to know how to put his car into neutral and coast to a stop and try and figure out that his gas pedal was stuck to the floor by several carpet and/or rubber mats. Never had a single problem with my car.

Thanks for the kudos on the vinyl though!

Um, I would pay you to install one on mine. Seriously though, how many attempts and how did you install it so perfectly?

Thanks for the compliment! On the MBA that was my VERY FIRST attempt at any of this vinyl stuff. I just took my time. I measured 3 or 4 times and then was very careful. Inside my car I had to do the right side of my steering wheel 3 times before I was happy with the final product. However, all the others were done on the first attempt. Once you have done a few applications it becomes easier as you learn the limitations of the vinyl and how much heat to apply and what kind of angles you can do. Still not good enough to do my side mirrors yet but maybe someday!
