Actually I'm gonna have to disagree with the previous post. RAM costs more for a few reasons - 1 the FB Architecture of the RAM for the Mac Pro's is gonna add to the cost (1 its not widely used like other RAM is, its still pretty darn new), 2 the amount of memory on the chips, that's gonna make cost go up, I remember when buying a 512MB RAM Stick costed $200, so yeah, costs will be high till manufacture costs go down, and yes they will mark up the price to make a profit, can you blame them?

Just my 2 cents, not trying to bash, but I can see for 4gb for 800 being reasonable, just buy from good ram makers, not cheap ones. Omni is good for me:

just a quick search brought this up:
Kingston DDR2-667 2GB FB-DIMM - $247.44 - Puget Custom Computers
Kingston Value RAM KVR667D2D4F5/2G 2GB 667MHz DDR2 ECC ... - $249.99 - FadFusion.com
Kingston Value Ram 2gb 533mhz Ddr2 Ecc Cl4 Fb ... - $501.22 - SHOP.COM

Kingston is a reputable company too.
