True I said "i might try it on". I was just getting a bit annoyed last night and trying to infuse some sarcasm into my post didn't work! Ah well...

Apple, you suck.

I've just noticed a dead pixel in the middle of my screen which I can't take my eye off. That and my airport KEEPS dropping the connection. It's fine on an iBook I have in the house, so I very much doubt it's my wireless connection! This MacBook is going back. I'm gonna get my money back I think, unless they can persuade me otherwise.

Just replied to your private msg..this sucks.

If you do get your money back, what laptop will you buy (assuming you still need another laptop). Do you know of anything thats around the same price as a macbook (with education discount) and thats as small with more or less the same specs?

I feel sorry for you :( Sounds like you got a complete lemon of a notebook. But then again, apple has been far from perfect with regard to notebooks ever since the release of the macbook pro. Good luck getting your money back...

And if you can't, demand a fully loaded mac pro to replace it :D

I was always curious about why, here in the UK, I couldnt find a macbook alternative (same spec, same size, same sort of price). Similar notebooks were always way more expensive. Guess this answers my question - their notebooks are of questionable quality.

That is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Why? Mac hardware always seems way more expensive than a similar PC spec but with the macbook, the macbook comes out cheaper. There has to be a reason for it actually being cheaper doesnt there? I havent seen any other apple hardware that doesnt have a cheaper non-mac alternative.

I'm not sure the MacBook is cheaper than equivalents. You can pickup some cheap laptops from some companies. It's just that with Apple you assume things are going to work because of the usually very good quality. However I have not experienced this with my MacBook!

Well, I've ordered my 3rd replacement MacBook and the customer service guy let me have a free wireless mighty mouse as compensation for all the messing around which has gone on.

I'm going to be SO annoyed if my 4th is faulty also...
