What a bizarre thread. And it seems most posters here haven't the slightest clue about Chrome or Chromebooks, with the exception of @lowendlinux.

You can download offline content, and run them in several offline capable apps such as Google Docs.

You can install Android apps, so any of the same criticism could also be leveled at your Android phone.

Chrome OS is not Windows, and thank god for that. It's a different experience, for a different workflow and set of user expectations. The exact same things are said about iPad. "Can't do Real Work™", "useless offline", "toy", etc. Blah, blah, blah.

There is room for multiple types of operating systems and devices. Choose the one that allows you to get your tasks done in the best way for you. Other people have different needs, one isn't inherently "better" than another.

I don't understand the comparison. Since when are phones designed to saw wood? Computers on the other hand have always been designed to run softwares...
If you want to make a comparison with a phone, the only one that would be valid would be: "my cellphone sucks at calling people."

I think you missed the point.

Computers are designed to run software - yes and no. They're designed for performing specific tasks and the software is developed to perform that particular task on that particular hardware.

What you're saying is similar to saying I bought a top of the line macbook pro, paid tons of monies but it doesn't come with Microsoft Paint and there is no way for me to install MS Paint. I found an exe for it and now my stupid MacBook can't even run that. It's such a useless piece of hardware. Can't believe I paid so much for this piece of junk.

If the previous paragraph sounds absurd to you, then you're pretty much at the place where anyone familiar with Chromebook is when he/she reads the thread.
