Chromebook Pixel is overpriced/underpowered

The argument isn't about ChromeOS alone, it's about ChromeOS on a $1300 laptop. Doesn't make sense to most people.

Chromebooks at $200 or $300 seems like a good option. At $1300, it's dumb.

I've already said that I agree with the notion of spending $1,300 on a Pixel. Then again, I wouldn't spend $1,300 on any personal laptop - so maybe I'm a bad comparison.

I don't really disagree with those quotes. Maybe you are just overly sensitive to those comments/opinions.

A $1300 ChromeOS device just isn't worth it at this time. Lack of flexibility and apps.

ChromeOS is the weakest thing about the Chromebook Pixel at $1300 in my opinion. Would be a better if it running of more flexible OS with more apps.

As for the pointless OS comment, I think most people think ChromeOS is a pointless OS since Google already has a better OS with more features and apps. It's called Android.

I agree 100% with any comment that says the Pixel is overpriced or anything of the like. However, as I (and others, maybe even you) have already said - it's not a device made to sell large numbers.

The reason ChromeOS is the weakest thing about the Pixel is because it's very good hardware. Even if it had Windows on it, the OS would still be the weakest thing about it

My theory is that google wanted its developers not to use MacBooks in the campus, so they made a cloud OS based chrome book with the same great industrial design.

If I were to buy it? Nah. All google services work fine on an ultra book for cheaper.

I wonder how they would develop apps on a Chromebook?

If I was developing web apps, I would have the following running my laptop:

1. IDE or Text Editor.
2. Imaging editing app/vector graphics app
3. Web server such as apache
4. Database server such as MySQL
5. Web browser and debugger

Seems like a difficult thing to do on a Chromebook and would require you to be connected to the internet.

I agree way over priced, it has junk specs and the OS is terrible. It should be around $200 to $300.

Just bought a Asus S200E for under $400. Core i3 Windows 8 laptop with touchscreen.

About 30% of the price of a Chromebook. Can buy 3 of them for the price of one Chromebook Pixel with money to spare.

Certainly you've seen this post, and even if you haven't - you'd have to try REALLY hard to not know that there are different models available

That the Chromebook pixel is more than 3 times the prices of a windows 8 laptop with touchscreen?

So anyone who uses windows 8 lacks logic? Wow.

I just think a Windows 8 laptop with touchscreen provides tons more value than a Chromebook pixel that cost 350% more. Oh, and I can run Chrome and Chrome apps on it too.
