Sideloading apps on the Fire TV stick is hit or miss, but mostly miss. I sideloaded the TWC TV app on it, but it would fail when loading. As far as the mirroring goes, it always out of ratio like it's zoomed in a little, which cuts off a small portion of the display edges. And it also lags. Not unbearable lag, but very noticable. Other than that, the Fire TV stick is very impressive.

The lag was why I stopped using the Fire stick and now use the Fire TV box. So much faster, smoother, better wifi connection, voice search is a nice touch too.
Plex works perfectly with the Fire TV box, although it has to do a refresh to my NAS server about once a day, which means waiting a few extra seconds to load my entire libraries metadata (at least that is what appears to be happening. Not sure if it is the Plex app or my connection, but the impact is minimal, so don't really care.)

Still have to use Roku 3 or the Chromecast though for Google Play movies and phone mirroring though, which is the only flaw with the Fire TV.

I read on xda that people for some reason are able to get bhtv running on the stick, but the remote doesnt do anything and they have to use some bluetooth device for input, which kind of kills the ease of use a good bit. scrolling through the channels has to be tough

The Fire TV doesn't allow mirroring from an iDevice or Android, and while I have a Fire HDX 8.9 tablet and can mirror using that, it is more difficult to bother with loading up Google movies via a web browser, than to just change my input to the Chromecast on my TV.

And I don't bother sideloading apps. I use the Fire TV to watch Amazon Prime, my Plex NAS, Netflix and Hulu Plus. Nothing more. And I only use my Chromecast to ocassionally mirror my Android screen or play my Google Play Movies.

I was referring to the mirroring when talking about lag. I have no lag issues at all otherwise on the Fire TV stick.

The Fire TV stick does. At least from my Note 4 and Nexus 7.

I have both chromecast and apple tv. The only thing better about apple tv is that I can mirror any websites video.

I know there are cast website apps, but they all are terrible and don't work.
