mind telling me which rams you used? kinda confused as i don't want to buy something that's not compatible. heard apple machines are pretty fussy about rams...

also are matched pairs recommended or necessary? what performance/compatibility advantages do they bring?

Yes, i am pleasantly surprised too.

I got the rams at a great price, matched pairs. From what i heard, its a good idea to bring the rams along so you can test them b4 buying. I took the risk, and to my surprise, Apple's stock rams are of the exact same chips as the ones i bought.

the memory in your MBP was the same as the ddr800 chips you posted just now?

i have the same exact one as you, purchased in october, and it came with ddr 667 ram (pc5300) which i believe is still the spec...

Yup, same manufacturer, same chips too.

Its not unusual to have same chips being officially able to run at various speeds.
