It is not the same thing. You can still take Apple Pay and say no Amex, if you try to Apple Pay an Amex card it would just decline, but you can still ApplePay another card.

That's fine. I wasn't say that couldn't be done.

I was referring to the comment that it was disrespectful to a customer to not accept ApplePay. My point was just that stores could decide what they want to accept or not accept.

Looks like Circle K has joined the misguided MCX member ban of NFC payments.

I went to make a purchase there this morning, and when I went to hold my iPhone up to the reader, the girl said, "We are not allowed to take that!" and actually tried to put her hand in between the phone and the reader!

She was too slow, however, and I the transaction completed on the iPhone side, but was declined.

The final irony? She explained that they don't accept Apple Pay "due to credit card fraud"!

So, I've added Circle K to the list of places I won't be frequenting. Presumably the entire list of MCX merchants can be added now.

The bit about credit card fraud sounds like she has no clue how Apple Pay works. How does one commit fraud using there own fingerprint to unlock there device in the first place. I think she's just repeating some stupid excuse given to her.

The Circle K by my house is a Sunoco one, and the Sunoco is listed in the MC nearby app as taking contact less payments. I haven't tried it, but might have to stop for a soda today.

Hmm...I usually use my google wallet at Circle K when I don't have my wallet or left it in the car. I'm thinking it'll no longer work either (a la Rite Aid).

I just used Apple Pay at a Sunoco (with no Circle-K) with no issues.

The only interesting thing was that they had THREE terminals on the counter, 2 of which had NFC logos... So I had to ask which of the two I should use. :)

Better to have too many....

No,you cant compare amex which is a card itself with applepay who contain amex and visa etc

Fine, but it's like a store saying they don't accept checks. A business can accept any type of payment form they want. If they don't want to participate in ApplePay, it's not disrespecting the customer.

I realize that. My point is that a store can accept whatever they want. If I only have a AmEx card and the store doesn't take it, that's not a slight on me.

Your comment is bogus

Thread is bogus.

Thanks for your "report" OP I know you mean well but you failed. And also just so other ppl realize, you can engage Apple Pay and get the check mark at Circle K and any place that has NFC but that doesn't mean to transaction will work, even when you get the check mark. It has to be enabled in both places by the merchant.

Circle K never took Apple Pay, even in the first few days, so you phrased it like it was another CVS situation but at Circle K it was never enabled.

I tried it personally on day one and it didn't work.

Thread title is off.

CVS used to take them and neutered it.
Circle K has not taken them from day one.

I've used Apple Pay at Circle K and I've had it declined at Circle K. Nothing wrong with this thread or the title.

Just used it at Circle K myself in the past month. Worked just fine.

This was in Lakeland, FL.

Now that I have the LoopPay Card, I can shop anywhere and pay without the need for physical contact or credit cards, but I still won't give any companies that turn off NFC payments for  Pay or Google Wallet any of my business. MCX will fail (much like Isis aka Softcard did).

LoopPay sends the magnetic stripe, so it'll start failing as stores quit accepting magnetic stripe reads from chip cards, as they are required to do by Oct 1 to avoid fraud liability. (Unless your card doesn't have a chip, then LoopPay will continue to work).
