Dang I love CIV 4, still playing it on my PC now with The Beyond The Sword expansion, but I was planning to buy a Macbook Pro after MacWorld expo. This is bad news for me, I guess I need to run dual boot anyways.

More ways than one, I don't think Beyond the Sword is out for Mac yet.

Civ IV runs fine on my Mac Mini but crashes on my MBP 2.2GHz. Is the video card the problem? Why aftere 6 months couldn't they fix the problem?

Oh crap,

i just got my 2.4 MBP and wanted to get Civ 4

it doesnt work on mac, but will it work if i got the PC version and
boot camp to xp?

Civ IV has been a trainwreck from the start, from a software design perspective. It's buggy, bloated, and far slower than it should be. Which is to say, if they did such a crap job to begin with, why would you expect them to fix bugs? Aspyr could learn a few things from blizzard.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Its soo friggen bloated. When you get on to a big map, late game, you notice the fans come on when you end turn.

It never crashed on my dell, but sure did take up the cpu.

Blizzard Games

Not sure about all Blizzard games, but WoW plays great... once I had download all the current patches.
Plays at great frame rate, I've even hooked it up to my 1080p tv and at 1080 resolution I still get about 25-30fps... Runs much higher fps on the native 1440x900 with everything cranked to high.

well that's great and all... but Civ IV is not a blizzard game... and nobody was talking about WoW...

I downloaded the macbook software 1.2 update and it seemed to help a little but my machine still slows down.

Also it makes my video card temp rise to 80 degrees; is this going to be harmful to my machine?

Still no update?

No I don't think it will be harmful but why play it under a Mac? Macs don't even have the Beyond the Sword expansion. Boot Camp or something and play it under Windows. It's just less hassle.
