Without flash, clicktoplugin doesn't work. I use it to download video clips. There are some other programs that do it but they charge for it and it isn't as easy as clicktoplugin.
I'm open to trying another program
I use Fastest Tube as a Safari extension to download video clips. It's free, I think.

Thanks, I'll look into that.
I assume none of these extensions will ever show up in the app store
[doublepost=1479595432][/doublepost]I looked up some others as well.
It's not free but iSkysoft iTubeStudio for Mac looks like it might be the easiest to use.
$29.00 for a lifetime license. They add a download button to youtube videos which is nice, not sure if it gets added to other video clips on other sites.
The thing I like about clicktoflash is that I just need to right click on the video to download to the desktop. So easy.
I don't like programs where you have to copy and paste the url into the program

I also saw one called macx youtube downloader for free and this one says it will download from other sites as well which is important

Is this true? It's not for clicktoflash. I haven't had flash installed since 2011, but I've been using clicktoflash since then.

So i've got it working again...
1) find and install the clicktoflash extension for Safari (not available through Apple's extensions list, you have to download yourself)
2) open the settings, and click the Media Player tab
3) Initial Behavior: Preload
4) Instant Autoplay: unselect this

Then you get what you see in the image below: the video is loaded, and you can click where it says html5 if you wish to play. and now, if you right click that same spot, you have a menu option to download the video.

This has been working for some time for me, but I think YouTube has changed the location of the MP4 or something because more and more videos are showing an error when I try to load the native player. Fastest Tube also fails to download the video. Here's one, for example:

Apple inserted a message when opening extensions preferences that clicktoflash isn't approved and can get hacked or something like that.
Wonder if this is true or Apple is just trying to scare us.
I wonder why the developer didn't just apply to get in the app store and charge a small amount for it. I would buy it in a second

Unfortunately you're in the very, very tiny minority there. Nobody wants to pay for anything anymore.

I think people would pay 5 bucks for something that works as well as clicktoplugin. There is nothing like it anywhere. With other programs you can to copy the link then place it inside the program. clicktoplugin and clicktoflash you just right click and download. It was brilliant

Hello, I hate to revive this thread, I used click2flash Or click2plugin on my PM G5 Quad and now youtube isn’t loading QuickTime player.
