And the OP has every right to be annoyed if his parents at first said 'yeh we'll get you an iPhone' and then they said 'no we won't'. After all, parents are supposed to be together on things.
Heck, I'm 44 and I have to convince my wife to allow me to get one. My daughter's cell phone is dead from abuse, so I'll get an iPhone and give her my Samsung to use.
Well, you're possibly going to college. That $600 could be used towards thing(s) that are far more useful in college than your cellphone.

no one says you wont be grateful or that your acting childish, just that your parents ARE somewhat rich if they can afford $600 on a phone, and quite possibly still a few grand more on stuff youll actually NEED in college. Am i right?
that may be true, but then i didnt even ask for this and you are accusing me of doing wrong here. i mean yeah my parents are pretty well off but there not rich, and there certainly not like the hiltons like someone further up in the thread was saying. i mean my dad and his dad basically built their own company from scratch so to compare my family to the hiltons is just plain stupid

yeah dude thats all im saying. i mean im grateful i was just annoyed that my mom was about to cancel plans for something i got so stoked for
Why not get something that will help you in college? im 16 and im still buying the iphone with my own money that i earned, not my parents'.
High school students' parents may not buy their son an iPhone to go with his Macbook, two iMacs, and two iPods? Pity.
harsh, but i already posted that the imacs are not mine, wow. and i bought the ipods myself. and again i wasnt complaining that they might not have bought it. but is it right to tell someone you will do something for them, wait a week and a half and then tell them that you wont?
and i told them i wanted to buy one on my own and they said that they would for graduation
Well, I won't hate on you, I've just gotta say... NICE!!!!1111!! I being still in high school, am seeking money in every way I can, as my parents do not see any point in my spending. I have bought virtually every piece of technology I have with my own money... which is why I don't have that MBP yet... but I'll be gettin' an iPhone, my Dad lost a bet so he pays for the plan, but iPay for the iPhone. Good goin' saving that iPhone, you can brag in college now .
