I think that this dude just hates Apple. The notebook comparison was just stupid, but guess what? The iPhone vs. the LG Voyager, the iPhone lost by a point! This dude sucks.

Even besides that, the iPhone's rating is 8.0

The voyager. the AT&T Tilt and the LG Glimmer (?) all had a score of 8.3.

Again, OS value is the same as a GPS chip. They have no sense of weighting categories whatsoever at CNET.

Forget multitouch... the internet is a few seconds faster! Who cares if the browser actually brings the real internet... its a little slower!

does it really matter? you know what you want and you know about the features of the air or iphone. do these people from cnet really think we are stupid enough that we can't decide which product we need?

so when people get the air they are like...oh shi* oh nooo damn...this thing doesn't come with a dvd burner? well next time better watch cnet ;)

Although we like OS X, I'm sure there are lots of people out there happy with windows...so OS arguments aside...I still can't get over how they use the low end MBA for comparing features yet the high end MBA for comparing prices! Uh, hello, logic? Where are you?

Not only that, but they used the price of the low end ThinkPad that doesn't include the DVD drive and only comes with 1 GB of RAM.

Having the option to buy the Air at $1800 was a real selling point for me.
Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to afford it.

why do u care? the whole thing was stupid...no one wins. build quality is great (air and lenovo).if i don't need a dvd burner etc why would i buy the lenovo...if i do need all the stuff lenovo is just the right thing to buy!

ah but one thing...with 1.6 cpu and no ssd the air has a better battery lifetime!
you're right about the os...i own an air but also use vista on my pc at home..runs great had no problems at all.

I don't especially "care" but I thought others would...it's just so obvious that they're being biased here!

Yeah, it's pretty funny actually. It's almost like saying "Look, the Honda Civic comes with automatic transmission, air conditioning, leather seats, sunroof, iPod integration, and the Ford Focus only comes with manual transmission, no AC, no CD player, cloth seats, etc...but Look! The Ford Focus (fail to mention that this particular customization has all the features the civic has and then some) is $1500 more than the Civic! Clearly the Civic wins here!"

This has nothing to do with that...i just posted this because I found their unfairness pretty funny here...hopefully CNET readers are clever and don't buy into this unfair comparison...

I am so sick of CNET. They are trying to be "fair and unbiased", but instead they are simply putting everything Apple down. It really is starting to piss me off. Todays new phone, the LG Glimmer, got a higher rating than the iPhone (so did the Voyager). They simply are stacking up features and not weighing some features as more important than others.

Now check out this doozy of a video by the worst of them all, Molly Wood.

Ya, you stick with the ugly boyfriend Molly, because you have no chance with a guy like Apple ;)

I think the review was OK except that they compared different spec'd computers. And that Molly Wood video pissed me off so much. I was cringing watching it. She obviously hates Apple since that rant was like the majority of the video and she said it with so much conviction lol.

Owell, at least most macs they reviewed got editor's choice awards...

Actually, yes, people do go to CNET for decisions.

Lol, and one more thing IJ ust noticed...the MBA beat the X300 in their "performance round" -i.e. the ENTRY LEVEL MBA beat the X300 which is way more expensive...but then they bash the air because it doesn't give as much bang for your buck as the X300 does. Hmm.....the Air is cheaper and apparently performs better than the X300...again, where's the logic?

I mean, the X300 is the choice if you need windows and need USB ports, removeable battery, etc., and it has way more features t han the air does...but I just find it funny how they give the air the win for performance yet in the next round they claim that the X300 is more bang for your buck. I mean, if you're looking at the 2 K and less category, clearly the Air is superior. In the 3000 range, then we can discuss...

The biggest discrepancy - and one that should have had a significant impact is that they used the 1.6 HHD for the performance testing, but used the 1.8SSD for price comparison - Apples to oranges comparison.

I'll just mention OSX vs. Vista in passing. When considering a laptop the OS has to be a factor, if for no other reason than how the laptop handles sleep when yu close the lid. I've never had consistent results with ANY version of Windows, while OSX handles it flawlessly every time. On the other hand, lack of application compatibility is a deal breaker for some. This is subjective of course, but is a factor in many buying decisions.

I agree completely, they should have given the X300 a lower score when in the performance test, which would have probably made it a tie or the Air a winner. I gotta admit the X300 is a very good machine, but when it comes down to it, the Air takes the cake for one reason: OSX.

I agree too. And like the poster above me said, the x300 is a very good machine. Looking at the specs on paper, I gotta admit, I would be tempted. However, the big deal breaker is the simplicity of OS X and the sexiness of the laptop. Even OSes aside (as some would argue it is a personal preference), the Air is WAY cheaper and the processor is not some ULV crap. You can always buy the Superdrive, IF you need it, and you can always buy a USB hub, IF you need it. But the processor is something you can not upgrade.

I hate when people are biased.

And I know everyone tells us that we're biased towards Apple, but the fact is, they make better stuff. End of story.
