Nice pic! The weather here hasn't been the best but I did get a good evening to view the comet.
As the users of this sub-forum seem to share a dislike of multiple images per photo post, I'll just offer this:

I have been raging for days now because we havent had a clear sky... I have to envy your images instead.
Same here on both counts! Doesn’t look like tonight will be any better.

Only in the one photo per day threads! You can post as many as you like in other threads.
Some lovely pictures there. Prefer the silhouette ones though.

Great shot here! Would like to see others' as well!

I was able to get a couple of this over the last two weeks.

This was taken at around 4:00(ish) in the morning over Folsom, CA

This was from outside of the city at around 10 (ish) PM up toward the Sierra mountains to get out of the city lights

Very nice!

The weather around Philly usually does not usually corporate during these cosmic events. Few mornings predawn a few weeks ago were a bust. Finally saw it last Tuesday night in Bucks County, PA, much darker up there. I was trying to get pics each night as the comet turned counter clockwise.

Last night clouds, storms rolled in around 9pm. ( Brilliant timing  )

I don’t think that’s actually true:
Clicking on the Picture Gallery link in the sticky rule above takes you out of this sub forum and takes you to the Pictures sub forum under Community Forum.
There’s nothing in the rules that applies here unless folks start talking technique - like exposures, tracking, etc. I once posted a simple multiple pic thread and the hornets flew.
I personally don’t care if folks post multiple pics in a post, but it has definitely made people unhappy here before - hence the sticky.

Thanks about the pics!

I’m sure posting multiple photos is fine in one post. If they are all on topic, there is no issue. We are pretty relaxed here.

I agree that in a thread like this multiple photos should be allowed here. Although not a technique thread this is a specific event worth sharing various photos. But perhaps @annk or @arn could verify.

My picture thread was moved by the mods to the other forum because it featured multiple pics in one post and the rules were developed and stickified.
Sorry to go off the topic of nice comet pics. Keep ‘em coming!

I had to reread the rules to be able to answer this! First of all, I can't see that creating this type of thread is governed by any sort of restriction of number of images. The Guidelines refer specifically to two types of threads (POTD and weekly photo contests) and posts in Picture Gallery. Those of you who are regulars here can correct me if I'm wrong.

Users in the photography section have a history of working pretty well together, and you guys created your own, sensible guidelines that evolved over time. All we did was formalize them :) So unless I am misunderstanding the rules that are in place, I would think it's just fine to post more than one image in this thread.

I don't want to derail this thread, only to try to answer the question. So if anyone feels I've misunderstood the culture and guidelines in here, feel free to shoot me a personal conversation message.

This was our intention when we collaborated with the admins on documenting these guidelines. The sentiment is that you stick to one image where it is a comp/challenge or a POTD but another threadlike this which is informational or on a topic, can have multiples.

Now that doesnt mean go ahead and create a thread and use it as a backup for your catalog.... :) Just be sensible.

and post more pics of the Comet as the weather here in Scotland is rotten again today!

Late to the party - clouds/other, here's mine from last night ..
This is from 11-16mm UWA @ 16mm, shows the position @ 10:45pm EDT relative to big dipper.
Tonight I'll do some 50mm prime and 400mm via 70-200 L + 2xTC.

Of course the star trails with the lovely comet blues on the bottom ... this is 2 hours of 8 second images stacked

Last night Thur 7/23 very clear skies - this was 11:20pm.
I used the 50mm f1.4 prime lens @ ISO1600, 4 sec exposure & stopped down to f1.8 for sharpness.
Bonus: Meteor came across also near the comet :)

Side bar: This Canon f1.4 prime has always given me some chroma issues for night imaging ...
I did adjust in post but still shows purple cast where should be pure white :(

A Starlink train joined the party. Unfortunately I didn't realize this was happening or I wouldn't have stopped the exposures in the middle. This is a composite of 13 images over about five minutes.

Those are pretty cool! I wonder how long before the novelty wears off though, and they just "ruin" photos like airplanes sometimes do.

Unfortunately it seems like the viewing window for the comet may have passed! The moon is too bright here to see much of anything anymore. Here's one more that I had gotten on a camping trip. I purposely left most photo gear at home because I needed to get to sleep early, but I took one photo with the point and shoot leaned with its tilty screen (since I didn't have a tripod with me).

They will eventually spread out. These were about 20 seconds behind each other. (20 second exposures). There ultimately will be many more though so I expect in the early night you run a good chance of picking up one or two. The sweet spot would be for the antenna to be able to see 3-5 at any given time.

The latest batch have sun visors to help block the reflection. We'll see how well those work. At least they are trying to mitigate the issue and with the lower orbit they will drop into the Earth's shadow quicker.

I did pick up several other satellites that night including an Iridium flair. Also a few airplanes. I've gotten good at editing them out. ;)
