My own two cents, but everyone has to start somewhere, and many seem to gravitate to a particular interest once they get going. Photography demands a certain level of observation, and it’s often that observation that drives interest. I think when we discourage participation, we discourage the power of observation and the growth it provides. Some may never take an interest in photography, but others will participate, listen and learn. And you never know which ones it will be.

I’m still here because I was never run off, even though I didn’t know much when I started (and still have much room to grow). It’s intimidating to start sharing something as personal as the photos you think are good enough to share. I think it’s easy to forget that with all the folks screaming for attention online, not everyone is so eager to bear their souls. I think it’s important to consider that in a casual photography sub-forum.
Well said!

I would also like to mention that now and then one tends to perceive oneself as being right and others wrong in all aspects of life, probably because one learns to "like" and "dislike" from childhood. If not careful, one tends to like, "me, myself, and I" the most.

Nice shot! My ignorance is showing here but I thought a GoPro is a video camera? Does it also shoot stills? I know they're some kind of "action camera" that people use when engaged in sports and other activities, but that's about the extent of awareness of it.....

Yep it does still. Until the GoPro 9 it was only 12mp stills. 9 took it to 20mp and the new 10 is 26mp.

Fixed lens, its primary purpose is video but I was playing about today when i went for a walk for lunch. The 9 and 10 both have a removable lens cover meaning you can fit an ND filter - i had to try it out.

Thanks! I've only seen them occasionally when I've been in a store but have never really looked all that closely or done much research on them.
I use mine when I am doing activities with the kids. Clip it on my jacket or bag strap and just have it taking a time lapse video. Great as the girls forget it is on after a while. As it is wide angle always in focus then it is great for that

Also, I got on first time so that I could add a weight to the back and throw it in the pool on holiday and catch the girls jumping in to retrieve it. Great fun until it catches a shot of my whale like frame and ruins my mood - getting old sucks.

It is really only recently that we have been able to interfere with the settings. mainly by sticking a filter on it and then setting ISO min and max to 100 forces it to do a longer shutter time.
