If you successfully get into dfu mode and receive error 1669 like I did leave your phone plugged in and press volume up volume down and hold side button till apple logo appears. Stay plugged in and check your Mac for a popup hiding behind finder stating you need to download something to communicate with iPhone. Let it download whatever it is and try the process again. That’s what made it go through for me
I got something earlier, but didn't download for me. I'll try it out in a few.

Tried both processes (restore and alt) and didn't show up anything for me

I downloaded that earlier and still doesn't work.

Hi ;) Can u tell please, what version of macOS you are using?
First - thx for DFU manual, i was always using Recovery mode, thinking that it is DFU mode 😁
I'm windows user, so my attempts to downgrade from b3 failed - got error 1669, then tried up down holding power buttons, and my phone just restarted, with no message asking to download something

Please share the steps and device model.

Thank you
I have an iPhone 15 Pro, which was on 17.1 beta 3. I plugged into my Macbook 16" which is on MacOS Sonoma 14.0

Yesterday, I got a pop up saying MacOS needed to download an item in order for the device to work correctly. Did that, but still didn't work because I was in Recovery Mode.

A few minutes ago, I tried putting it into DFU mode, used "Alt+Restore" and selected 17.0.3. Restored without any issues. Pretty sure you need to download that asset that Macbook warns you in order to restore successfully.

Did you lose any data?

just to share I managed to downgrade from b3 to 17.0.3, with MacOS Sonoma 14.0

had no luck to enter DFU with Apple's own Type C cable (for more than 15 mins) but once I switched to Anker, I managed to get in within 2 attempts

I've researched - to enter dfu mode:
1) plug in device
2) switch it off (1st click volume up, 2nd click volume down, 3rd hold power button - then slide power off / or just turn off from settings-general)
3) hold together volume down and power buttons for 5 seconds
4) release power button, and keep holding volume down button
For my tests - that is 100% way to enter DFU mode.

This is correct.

iPhone 15 pro running beta 3, couldn’t restore. Tried usual methods on last version of Mac OS. Annoying. Error 4016.

I was receiving 4016 when I wasn’t in dfu mode. Sounds like you’re in recovery mode. Are you sure you’re getting dfu?

Apple just answered me this to a feedback. Someone to confirm 100% if it is possible from iTunes on PC?

“As a result of your feedback, there are software changes in the latest update, build 21B5066a, that have resolved this issue.
You can see the software build your device is running and check for the latest update by tapping on Settings > General > Software Update.

Once you update your device to Seed 3 (21B5066a) you will be able to restore back to shipping software.”

I ask this because as I am reading you and you are saying that it does not leave... to know if there were any lucky ones.

No.
Tried many times - no result.

Yes I was able to downgrade from 17.1 beta 3 to 17.0.3 too. I used DFU mode and a Thunderbolt 3 data cable. I lost data but had not made a backup. Mac OS Sonoma 14.0 , Iphone 15 pro .

Hello,

I just discovered this site and forum and decided to register. After two days reading opinions of users in my same situation, I am one more who can't downgrade from iOS 17.1 beta (beta 2 in my case) to the stable 17.0.X

I thought of making a compilation of users in this situation by opening a post in which we will inform about news. In my case I have a 256gb iPhone 15 Pro Max, but I don't know if it affects other models.

PS: If someone goes into recovery loop when trying to restore a stable, simply restore the beta version, either by iTunes, or 3uTools and then you can recover the terminal.
I was wondering about iOS 17, I was going to download it on my 15 Pro. Thank you. I think I’ll wait.
