edit: restored it again, now i have wifi!

edit2: what is going on??? my touch is getting stuck on 1.1.2 JB. im restoring, going back to 1.1.3 and waiting until somebody helps me out with this...

edit3: nvm, i got it. so far... lol, i was panicking.

@theman

Lol you didn't follow the tutorial correctly. If your on a Mac like me, run Independence, that program will kick you out of the "Plug to iTunes" into SpringBoard after you install 1.1.2.

@WildPalms

No this is for iPod Touch. I fixed the link :).

Im running into a bit of a problem when downgrading to 1.1.1. When I option click and select the folder, I cant select the folder as a whole. It make me select something inside the folder. I tried making it a zip file but it still doest work. Im sure this a simple mistake but i need a little help.

I guess im missing something... whenever I download the 1.1.1 why cant I select the whole folder when it downloads? and Im converting back to 1.1.1?

cool ryan ill download another browser and try it again

Lol. When you download the file it's a .ipsw. After that you will select the .ipsw FILE as a whole. It's not a folder and if you see a folder then your browser is probably extracting it. So make sure that the .ipsw file is intact.

just wanted to say thanks a million for this guide.
i've read about 25 different guides on how to jailbreak my 1.1.3 itouch and saw how many problems there were during the process so i've been scared to do it up until now.
but i think your guide is the best one out there!
and i just wanna ask a last question about whether i have to use itunes 7.6 or 7.5..
i've read it somewhere that 7.6 interferes with OktoPrep program so i can't upgrade to 1.1.2 later on.

Thanks in advance!

what version of itunes i need?

to install the software 1.1.1 i need another version of i tunes or i can do it with the last version (7.6)??

send me a link please my email is rofejim@gmail.com...thanks!!

Actually you can do it with 7.6. I did all my Jailbreaking on iTunes 7.6. Whatever I wrote on my guide is what I did.

i have an error on itunes!!

ok this is what i'm doing:

1.extract my software (1.13).
2.i download the software 1.1.1.
3.select restore and option. (on mac)
4.search the software.

when say preparing ipod for restore i have an error (1406)

is correct what i'm doing!?

my english is bad but i try to explain it very clear!

is it possible to move the apps partition AFTER you are already in 1.1.3, or was that something i had to do before i upgraded from 1.1.1?

Ok, so i did everything on ur guide to 1.1.3. Downgraded to 1.1.1, then 1.1.2.

So then i went to the installer and got the new installer.

Now in itunes it asks me to update my software do i do that?

@TongYunLo

No don't update it. Just check "Don't ask me again" and press no.

@theman

Yes it's possible. I just do it before 1.1.3 so I have a lot of space for apps later in 1.1.3.

@rofejim

Your in the wrong recovery mode. Read my tutorial again.

ok, i'm trying to move my apps partition, but i keep getting:

ssh: connect to host < ip address > port 22: Operation timed out

am i doing something wrong? (yes, i actually typed in the ip address...)

Whenever I try running independence, it'll give me an error saying

"unsupported version of iTunes installed."
Does that mean I need to install 7.5?

@rofejim
just use autodown to put it in the real recovery mode,link to autodown posted few replys up
then downgrade or also get 1.1.2 then downgrade 1.1.2 then downgrade 1.1.1

get bosstool to move apps

If we're running 1.1.3, when we downgrade will we have to buy the January Software update again when we upgrade back to 1.1.3?

Help

I started downgrading and received this error message.

The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknow error occurred
(1602)

Ever seen this and what should I do?

I'm going to try again and see if it happens twice.

Hi. I am new to this, so please pardon my ignorance. What is the reason to downgrade ipod touch to 1.1.1 and then go through all the proccess to upgrade back to 1.1.3? Is the device somehow 'crippled' (in the same way a phone tied to an operator would be) and this proccess gives the device all the applications it was originally intended? If so, what are the 'additional' applications not present in the first instance/ Thanks for your help!

@GrapeApe

Srry, I don't use Windows anymore. It might be SHIFT. My keyboard says ALT/Option so I was assuming it would be ALT on Windows.

@iamfaiz

I used iTunes 7.6 with no problems so feel free to update your iTunes.

@caa4444

The point of my guide is to show people how to do this without installing extra applications.

@fatthugdoug

Nope. If your iTouch came with 1.1.3 preinstalled then you can reinstall it.

@Chujax2087

Please don't double post. Just edit your last post.

@Psyxologos

Read the introduction to my guide.
