Great concept, not sure on the name. Its still a Mac, so why not have Mac in the name? Steve himself said they wanted "Mac in the name of our products".

It looks good, I wonder what you could squeeze into that space, and also air flow problems?

Also like the mac mini that was there.

Thanks for the compliments.

The name was derived from the old Apple numbering era, of course Apple probably doesn't want to go into that scheme nowadays, but I was just having a play with this logical progression with the name. I couldn't come up with a name myself anyways (I did suggest eMac before), others probably include Mac slim, Mac core... along those lines, but most importantly though is not the name, but the concept.

I'm not so sure about the performances of those slim laptop drives though, is it a big compromise to use 2.5" and slimline disc drives other than 3.5" and standard drives? Should it be an industry standard to move to smaller drives but offer the same performance? I hope it does.

design not bad but off course at the current "OMG MOAR GADGETS" attitude from apple rather unlikely (as much as i would take 1-2 myself)

even further made worse after steve jobs like to repeat "we are making appliances" somehow too often for my taste

I'm quite amazed at the slight resemblance at the Powerbook to desktop project that was revealed today. I would really like to see some private projects that could achieve what I had proposed. It's interesting to see it happen nonetheless.

The current Apple lineup is not as clear as it used to be. So maybe Apple will change and add a mini tower. I know this concept would be enticing to gamers and those who like to upgrade their computers.

Nahh, it's still as clear, just not as defined.

Mainstream Consumer Models: iMac, MacBook
Mainstream Professional Models: Mac Pro, Macbook Pro
Mainstream Thin & Light Models: Mac Mini, MacBook Air

The only thing that's missing is the mainstream prosumer computers, a heavy-duty iMac and Macbook. Call them what you will, they should be a mid-tower and a 15" MacBook.

I don't know if I like the Mac Five idea or not, but it's a step towards the mid-range mac, and that can only be a good thing.
