I'm currently in the Walden Gallera Apple Store on a White MacBook, and just wanted to let you all know (amacgenius can confirm that it indeed is) buzzing. The black one next to me, however, does not.

This is a 2.0/super/512/60 model (white)

you mean, WHINE?

Awww... that sucks! :( Glad it wasn't the case for the black model, *crosses fingers* that this isn't the case for the black one I just ordered.

Nope, I mean BUZZ - note this is only on the white display model, the black shows no BUZZ or WHINE according to myself and amacgenius.

Besides the buzzing, how are they performing/feeling/looking/etc.? Would really like to know. :)

skoker was using the white model and I used the black, I listened on both and no humm/buzz/whine on the black model, but there is a buzz (kinda loud) on the white one...

Minus getting used to the keyboard (which I've been having trouble with) it's a great machine to use.

The white is kinda ugly, but other that that it's amazing performance. The keyboard is a beaut but really awkard to type on.

How does the keyboard feel in comparison to the powerbook or ibook? Maybe difficult to describe.

The keyboard has the keys spaced out too far, looks like an anti-crumb feature not implimented so well.

Is the white ugly because its just not cool next to the black one or is it even ugly in comparison to the iBook G4? :)

I've got a 14" iBook G4, and I'd risk calling the white MacBook ugly. The keyboard destroys the look of the machine.

The black's KB compliments it well.

However, the glossy screens on both have a HUGE viewing angle.

Hmm... I really hope that's something that one can get used to. How does it feel when pressing the keys? More towards alu powerbook or g4 ibook?

Sorry I have so many questions that are completely off topic... just a little excited is all. :D

Wow! That's really good to know. Thanks! That means I'll definitely wait to see it in person before clicking the "confirm purchase" button. Just not sure I can justify the extra cash for the black one though. :( Decisions, decisions... :p

Update: the black's trackpad is showing a HUGE sweat-stain on the trackpad from the college students and us two in here. Not good me thinks :(

Ouch. Definitely not good. Does it look like something more permanent or could it be wiped off? Btw, is the MacBook very hot?

lol... maybe that's why people should pay the premium to get the black one.. just like the macbook pro, the 2.16 line has least problem :D

dammit there goes a blow to my face. i was planning on getting the white one but now.. i actually gotta pay extra 400 bux to get considerably less whine? oy.. please pay extra if you don't want whine..

apple's starting to resemble windoze..

Bear in mind this was on one white MacBook, hardly a representative sample I would say. Chances are the others aren't that way. Maybe Apple will also be more helpful fixing buzzing MacBooks compared to whining MBPs? :) In any case, I won't get too worried until many users are showing the same issue. Although, it is a bit worrying that the display model has this issue...

Or, alternatively, the single white model these guys used happened to whine, whereas the other one did not.

The whine on one single white one does not necessarily mean that all white ones whine. And the lack of whine on one single black one does not mean that all black ones do not whine.

Yes, we can't confirm all white ones whine, the one they had in store did, and the black showed a minor humm after a while, but either way I'd recommend these machines, I know I'm going to buy a black one when I can.

Maybe someone already answered this in another thread... but are the white ones glossy like the iBookG4s? Or matte?
