My upgrade isn't due till October so I think i will give iOS 9 a go and see what comes of the apple event in a few days time. There's a few nice features coming in the new update and I would like to give them (and the bug fixes) a chance before I completely make my mind up.
However, a big basis of my decision is cost, although I don't want to sacrifice my enjoyment of the device for a few pounds saved. I currently have an iPhone 5c and that just doesn't cut it for me anymore. I would ideally like an iPhone 6S but would settle for an iPhone 6 if the price was right. I want a bigger screen, but the rumours about the 6S still only having 16GB base storage has me worried. I have an iPad mini with 16GB storage and I am constantly plagued by pop ups telling me how low my storage space is. So this could be another massive deciding factor, if the 64GB is priced too high and the only offer is a 16GB base model.
So it basically rests on the new iPhone announcements on the 9th of December and around a months worth or play with iOS 9. In that time I'll get myself on an android phone whenever I can trying out as much as I can to get a feel of it. It will also be interesting to see the 2 new nexus devices coming out soon.

OP, I am in almost the exact same quandary (see here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/no-32gb-iphone-6s.1910962/page-8#post-21782317).

I've owned Android phones before and I'm familiar with the downsides, which others have articulated well in this thread. I am very happy I moved to a 5c in 2013. But now that I want a big phone, I'm not sure I can justify the cost of a 64GB iPhone Plus.

Also, re: everyone on here saying "Go with stock Android/Nexus"; they're probably right, UNLESS having a great camera is as important to you as it is for me. Seems like only Apple and Samsung flagships have really great cameras. It's always been this way. (Seems like LG cameras are ok, but I hate the rear-mounted buttons on LG phones.) I had high hopes for the new Moto X, but its camera has not been particularly well received in the early reviews.

I know I will be unhappy in some ways if I go back to a Samsung. But are the advantages of iOS worth an extra $150 (or more)? Maybe they are, in the long run. But this is our quandary....
