Hello,
I've just moved this post from another thread because I've just phoned up apple and got a response. anyway..

I purchased my first ever mac (a core i7 iMac) on monday, the 7th. I checked online first to see if the mac would be delivered before Christmas. I found a page that said that a custom 27inch imac brought before midnight on 11/12/2009 would be delivered in time. As I was ordering four days before this I presumed it would be delivered plenty time ahead of xmas. So I went ahead and clicked the buy button.

After waiting half an hour to receive my confirmation email I was greeted to find this: "We estimate your order to be shipped 21 Dec, 2009. We estimate your order will be delivered to your shipping address on or before 31 Dec, 2009."

So today when I checked here the custom imac 27inch had been removed all together. I phoned up apple and was told pretty much that I was lying and that the custom 27inch was never on there (wish I had taken a screen shot). I was told that the reason my order wouldn't arrive before xmas was because of the magic mouse, which didn't make any sence because they come with a magic mouse as standard.

I'm just annoyed as I was told (by the site) that it would arrive well in time for xmas and now I'm being told it wont be here till new years.

Odd indeed. I ordered an i7 on December 7th and my shipping and delivery info has not changed:

Code:
IMAC 27"/4850-512MB
Ships: Dec 21
Delivers: Dec 24

Just Placed An Order

well...just placed my order for the i7.....waiting to see what date I get for shipping....would be awesome to have for christmas....gift for my wifey!!!:D

UPDATE:

Just got confirmation email saying item will ship on 23rd....delivery 29th....I paid for the 2-3 day after shipping see if it changes at all later....:(

It is possible I guess

10 business days would be 23. If it ships b4 then you will.

It's possible that they are delaying the manufacturing process to deal with the QC issues...

Would love to hope that is the case...would wait patiently ...and only run to the door every now and then and not when every car goes by...LOL!

i7 27"

I ordered mine on the 27th NOvember and just got a confirmation. that it shipped in the 8th. It was going to make it on the 11th but now pushed bach until the 15th as it missed some FedEx cut off.

I ordered an i7 on the 8th (7:40am GMT) and got a ready date of 22nd Dec, with delivery 4th Jan 2010. Tried to cancel online today and discovered I can't. Need to call up but they are now closed. Happy Holidays

I suspect Apple won't be taking any returns or cancelling any orders until after New Year's.

apple.com store delivery time changes

it was 7-10 business days before. Today it says 2 weeks... go figure.

Hmm, US stores now show 2 weeks as you say. International stores still show 7-10 days. Though I suspect they just haven't been updated yet.. I wonder what causes this delay.

Is it the big amount of orders, or are they delaying orders to fix some of the issues that plague the imac?

Opted for Core2Duo. Ordered today 12/9.

THats because Core 2 Duos are on 2 weeks now too when they were more readily available before. They must be trying to sort the screen issue.

I doubt it. There probably just swimming in orders for..... well.... you know....Christmas. Busiest time of the year for apple and everyone else.

Well it's awful strange it's just the 27-inchers though. In shear number, more people buy 21.5s, not around here maybe, but in the general population.

Yes, ask the retailers. Also, look at Amazon, the cheaper, smaller versions always sell more.

Amazon is not a good benchmark, IMHO. As the Quad Core models at least are being price gouged. A stock i5 goes for $2899 on there. No one would pay for that price( though actually I wouldn't be surprised based on how many people paid more then what an iPhone costs from Apple despite Apple still have plenty of stock).

But that's not Amazon's price, someone else is just selling through their site and trying to make a ridiculous profit on it.

You really think a retailer is going to give you a straight answer? LOL! And if your going by Amazons "sort by bestselling" I think you will be slightly misled.

I'm sorry, but I guarantee you the 21.5 sells more than the 27, i mean, you can hardly even buy the 27 right now.

Furthermore, the 20 always sold more than the 24. Haven't you seen the trend? The majority of consumers buy the cheap one especially when it's a competent machine. Now things are different on Mac Rumors as people have a passion for their machines and want performance and large displays.

Why don't you guys go to an Apple Store and buy one there? I was just in one and bought an iTouch and also asked if there were any 27" i5's and i7's in stock and they said they did. I could of walked out with one today! Which was tempting since I am in the market for a new computer :)

Somebody lied to you. The i5 is a stock machine that may well be in store, but the i7 is an online BTO only and cannot be purchased from Apple Stores.
