Obviously, there is much arrogance included in apple's stance in this case. But I'm sure they would have done something eventually (they'd have to), if it wasn't for a new machine in their near-future plans.

No arrogance needed when you can just as easily unplug the computer before going inside. They want to worry about fans, but not an exposed motherboard with enough amperage to kill several people.

This is a long discussed topic as to whether the regulation was right or wrong. But it's irrelevant to this thread. Point is that Mac Pro was not available for sale for almost a whole year.

If you can call four years "near future", yes.

They might had 4 years to fix the issue, but Europe was left without Mac Pro for not more than a year, if I'm not very mistaken, or nearly that.

Regardless, apple's product pipeline is known to extend forwards up to 3 years, so it could be called - always relatively speaking - a "near future".

Long discussed? As is the hackentosh vs Mac Pro. But it is a good point regardless. Doubtful they will make a small change when the 2013 was getting ready to be released.

I'll admit, I would much rather prefer having the slick black cylinder on my desk, but this works for now :)
