Face ID wasn't a solution it was evolution!

Apple could have easily saved themselves millions in R&D and put a form of Touch ID on the back of the iPhone - or on the power button to get an edge to edge screen but they didn't. What they did was release an as of yet unequalled form of bio-metric security in Face ID.

You can think or hope all you want but an under screen fingerprint scanner isn't going to happen. They're not that good any way, I've used the optical variant on a few of the top end androids and while they work, sometimes well, they lack consistency because of the incredibly small target press area.

Technically they could make the finger print scanner area as big as they wanted I think.

I'll definitely be dragging up this post if they ever do ;)

I have never even owned an iPhone with Touch ID , went straight from a 5 to XR. Great phone!

Im very happy with Face ID, I just thought it was a cool idea that LG had. The option to be able to tap to wake the phone screen then just hover your hand over the camera to unlock it would be good.

I'm not sure if they can yet but when they can it will massively improve usability that's for sure.

I'll hope that day never comes :p

I can't remember which Galaxy phone brought a feature called air command where you could control your phone without touching it but it never really took off.

Yes I remember that, it was rubbish haha

iPhone should really have both FaceID
and Underscreen Touch ID. That would solve all the problems as well as make everyone happy
