Could somebody out there pass along a coupon that i could use in the apple store chicago this weekend...id Like to buy a intel iMac...but i am about 100.00 short of the 1500 it costs. If anybody has one out there...or a succession of them...it would be so greatly appreciated. I need the core image and such for school here, sadly, despite my powermac G4 being fast and really completely tricked out...it doesnt have the support i need. I have to buy the iMac this weekend for class monday, so..wont get the MDD off my hands quick enough i think...

unless somebody wants one?

any help is apreciated!

thanks!

are you already calulating in the student discount that is available to all students of acredited educational institutions?

Since you need the extra graphics power, I'm assuming you are into some kind of design. I would say you have two options. 1) Borrow/credit card/apple loan. 2) Buy a 17" iMac, use some of the spare money ($90) to bump the memory to a Gig. That would give you what you need for now. Then, when you get a couple hundred bucks, you can buy a monitor and span the screen between them (for much more space than you would get with a single 20" screen.

yes

its 1599 for an iMac with the discount...and i have about 1400.00...so im about 100-200 short

any help is appreciated!!

Don't forget about sales tax.

You might also consider Amazon.com, with their rebates.

you could trade with powermax. email em and see what they're willing to give you for it, if you're willing to part with it.

the machine is worth 1400-1500, its a mint dual MDD 1.4 with a ton of addons

i need to get the 20inch screen because i am in design...17 inch wouldnt cut it.

i already have the apple credit card...1000 is my limit on that...then i have 300-400 on another CC...

and thats it

i was going to do it later on after i sold the powermac...but...turns out i need it monday!

i have ram i can put in it...so i dont need the ram...i just need the 20 inch with a faster gpu, etc.

Do Option 2. Having multiple monitors is fantastic and not too expensive.

haha funny

but all jokes aside...im in a squeeze and could use somebodys help for friday
unless somebody wants to buy my powermac in the milwaukee/chicago area? that would be the other way

Why don't you just borrow the $200 off somebody? If you're hard pressed to find someone to lend you that kind of cash, just offer your current PM as collateral.

Another option is to have your new imac financed and pay it off in installments to Apple. It'll end up costing you more but at least you'll have what you need by monday.

how would i do the installments...
i have the apple card...waht would be my next step?

As far as I know you can purchase almost any Apple product and have it financed by Apple. In the Apple Store they always list the actual product price as well as a "monthly payment". Besides that I'm not sure how the system works. I've never used it. Just seen it.

I'm sure there's some more info on Apple's website, otherwise ask at the store.

As far as I can see the Apple credit card is yet another way of financing your purchase. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

I highly doubt you "need" an iMac by Monday. I mean, that sounds a bit extreme. Surely if such a high requirement exists, lots of people would be in the same situation, or your school/uni would have a lab room full of Core Image capable Macs.

Or phone your credit card company and ask to have your limit raised by $500. They might agree.

Prostitution doesn't sound like a bad idea. Don't laugh. Are you under 18? If so, it may work in your favour, because underage porn is huge in some parts.....

im in a very "strict" program at my university, so that is the reasoning. ive been puttiing this off for a wihle...and they changed the date that we needed it by.

i doubt the other card company will change my credit limit...

why? as long as you have a good reason, they are more than happy to. when i graduated from college and was about the head to law school, i spent the summer interning in scotland. i was planning to tour europe and need my limit bumped by $1500 (from 1k to 2.5k). one call to chase, letting them know my situation and that i would be getting student loans and they were more than happy to do it. the risk to them - $500 is minimal when they can be pretty sure that you will have the $$ to pay it off. That's more or less free interest for them. but if they won't, i will lend you the money at the 34.99%APR that they would charge. :D

id rather not get to more debt than i have to...sadly...

does anybody have any information to get it for less? I cant have it shipped because i need it monday...so...apple store chicago is my only option.

We've given you plenty of options as you can read above. Simple fact of life is if you can't afford it you'll have to save a little longer. That's just the way life works. If you want something you can't afford you going to have to use some form of debt to get it.

Can't you buy the comp with 1400 cash and then put the ohter 200 on your apple credit??? That seems logical to me, you can do it...I remember when my g/f got her iMac, her mom paid half cash, half apple credit That would be your best bet, as I am unaware of any coupons...Apple is pretty strict on their prices.

you could see if the apple store has any preowned/
"refurbished" intel imacs (people that return them) that may cost a little less.

Could always go buy a windoze machine

Ridiculous...

Seriously...stop begging. Sorry for the situation you are in, but forums are places to discuss and share knowledge, not solicit for money.

Talk to a friend, family member or your credit card company. If your school is so STRICT about this, they should either have computers available, financing to help offset the cost or an understanding that not everyone can afford a new computer.

Oh, next time don't procrastinate.

but really...

unless sombody buys my powermac right now and gets me the cash by tomorrow...im credit cards only...

Dude..i feel kind of sorry for you. I know what it's like to want a mac, but really...you have to 'suck it up'. you waited too long and now you're screwed for friday. i'd like to help you, but even i'm not that big of a procrastinator and believe me, I could race for the crown on that one.

i can't believe that a family member can't sling you the extra cash. or maybe they won't b/c you left it too long?

good luck
