So I placed an order for my white macbook on the 1st of september, but it shows that it is estimated to ship on the 14th. Why would they take so long to ship it when it says 5-7 days on their website?

I know, I know , it's probably nothing at all, but something interesting to wish for! Hopefully the macbook will at least see a spec bump on the 12th and i'll get a little upgrade:D

More because of the back to school season.. if you look at the MBP you see no indication of delayed shipping, and it is highly unlikely that Apple would actually update the MB before the MBP (because it will completely kill off their profitable line when the not so profitable MBs are not even stagnating!)

It could mean something... 6 people on SlashDot the other day said their MBP orders have all been delayed to the 13th of September, even with a 24 hour turnaround guaranteed on them.

My macbook got pushed WAY back (the 18th). Like many I am hopeful that it may mean an upgrade. But also like many I'm not holding my breath.

pure speculation

do you think it's possible that, since the iMac and the Mini got no updates (other than the processors), the 12th Steve'll take the time (like he did last year with the G5 iMac) to hype up the new Macbook Pro? reason for not updating the MB along with the Mini and iMac: it would have given away the surprise lurking behind the MBP update.

on the other hand, this time of year (september and october pr's) has been known to be more consumer-oriented, focusing on the iMac and the iPod.

still, would it not have been convenient for apple to come out and say "yep, every one of our computers is up to date?"

Well there was no indication of delayed shipping for his MB before he ordered it either. So what does that proove?

There IS notification of delayed shipping.. it says right there, 5-7 days.

While I'm still a bit skeptical (6 people have had orders delayed to 13th, but there are plenty of people ordering MBPs that haven't gotten their orders delayed, I bet) any good news makes me happy.

My shipping date on my MB is the 15th - not pushed back, but seems to be in line with the shipping dates for the iMacs (Core 2) and other MB's MBP's

I have my fingers crossed, but if it doesn't upgrade, it's no biggie - I still get a damn fine machine and a dirt cheap 30 gig iPod.

When I ordered my macbook on the 1s of sept I got a order acknowledgment with the estimated shipping times. And my macbook wasn't supposed to ship till the 13th of sept. but it started shipping today. I think they are just giving a worse case senario on the ship dates I case they cant meet the demand.

I'm going with the Back-to-school rush for the reasons that the shipping dates are so off. The MacBook and MacBook Pro will get the Merom processors at some point, but I think that it's going to be a little bit longer. But I could be wrong.

All I know is my Macbook will beat the crap out of the Pentium III Gateway I'm using right now. I think it still has America Online on it and I haven't used AOL since 1998.

Well, mine shipped today, just got the notice...so no upgrade for me!

I will wait also till the end of next week and order my little new MB...

You could order it today. I ordered mine yesterday and its not even shipping until the 18th.

i somehow don't think the entire stock of macbook is out.. and if it's not, they'll send those out first

mine got delayed to the 14th and i ordered it this tuesday- but i ordered it with the free ipod deal.. i don't know if can return it and get the new one.
