In the external statistics we find members reaching milestones. But the high performer are not identified similar.

Some continuos achievements should be recognized too

rwh202 reached 160 million points
and
twoodcc follows with 135 million points

Which is a huge contribution for our 1bn goal

Keep folding

thanks! i'm just glad we've had new members join, and old ones fire up some rigs again.

now if we can just find that whiterabbit....

I am having my own little celebration in overtaking the Panda! (not for long I suspect as my 6cores cannot hope to compete with his Titan when he gets it up and running)........

great, one done ... be carefully with the next one you going to overtake: that's a mod with a ban-hammer :D

Hey! I still have friends in high places here! Hopefully the Titan can let me catch up quite easy. Unfortunately I play too many games and do other high end stuff with my video cards like ray tracing, so I can't let them go 24/7.

Welcome back 840quadra, good to see some longtime member becoming active again

Thanks!

I guess it's a good time to get back into the fold. I have a new gaming / render / video editing system that has both a supported GPU, as well as a fairly decent Haswell i7 processor.

Haven't folded since 2009 on PowerPC systems! Even Though (NOT so Silent Panda) is about to pass me up, I feel it's really neat to be on the top 20 list considering I just restarted!

I am considering a 2nd GPU for my Mutt system (designed to become a Hacintosh after Mavericks is released) and hope to contribute more.

I don't Ban folding people, or Pandas ;) .

Hey -- that'd be great to see you up and running! I'm relatively new here but we've all been having lots of fun lately...

I remember those old PowerPC systems... used to have a few...

nVidia 780s and Titans are the units to get for folding and rendering and such... congrats on your new machine! and let us know how the Hackintosh works out!

Thanks!

You're only in top 20 points per day. We only have 28 active folders so...... :p let's get to top 20 points overall!

I do have a Mac mini that's not even plugged in. But since it'd be CPU only it's probably not even worth the points unless I want a tiny space heater.

is there a way to see only the active folders in the team list?

Our fellow folder COrocket fold on a Mini with solid 18kPPD; not bad for a little box.
Thanks for the tips on GPUs for the system!

I have a Mac Mini folding at home (literally) 24/7, except for now as i am in the process of doing a ground up rebuild on it. Once that is done, it will be back in the fold. Mine is only a Corei5, but I feel every little bit helps. I am not doing this for the stats or fame, just to help the true project any way I can.

It's funny, In winter I actually save some energy costs by folding. I tend to keep my entire house cool, with the exception of the office area I spend lots of my time in. I can keep the thermostat set at 60, while the folding room remains in the mid to high 70s (I love wearing shorts in the winter ;) )

Is there any way to figure out WHO get's the 1 billionth point?

THE TEAM, of course. :p

Actually there is no simple way. As we get "paid" per finished WU we could backtrack based on all (!) log files. Good thing: they are all UTC timestamped. Bad thing: complicated it is. The chance that there is only one WU is active at the time of pass 1bn is very unlikely. I have alone four WU at any given time.

No GPU under Mac OS ! Open CL is too buggy, as per GPU developer.

On Windows you can use newer AMD and NV GPU very successful
On Linux only NV
A little config is required
Client-type = advanced

That will get you Core 17 WU; in combination with passkey you get bonus points which makes a great part of your "income"

Would it be better to run Linux or OS X on my Mac Mini for folding? Not sure which GPU it has. But if it can do a little GPU folding to under Linux that wouldn't be so bad.

I tried folding on my mini and gave up because I thought it was being too stressed. The big GPU points are only on the latest nVidia (Kepler) and AMD cards (generally big desktop cards and not laptop versions) so I've been using a cheap Win7 box running Celerons to feed the GPUs and that's where most of my points come from...

My mini was worth only about 2K pod and right now the only big points on CPU folding are with Linux and CPU(s) with more than 16 cores at a decent clockspeed to be able to qualify for the bigadv WUs.

Just come in from another forum: our Grandpa is alone cumulated above 2bn points. Just wow.

he sure does deserve all accolades! :)

truly amazing.

I will only fold in Windows with that system. It will be booted into MacOS only when I need to work with Final Cut, all depending on how OpenCL works with my current nVidia card.

I run OS X, but again, I am not going for huge gains in rank like some of you are. Just donating my CPU time for what is essentially my main desktop mac / server that sits idle most of the time anyway.

Temps have been fine in it, I don't even hear the fan that much. If yours is an i7, it may run hotter though!
