Umm, even if I put my MacBook (Black) onto my lap, the fans can get loud since it's blocking the air flow. Yes office sucks, that's why I use iWork08 :D

My AIR is fine!.

My air (August build date) is fine. It can do 2 Youtube videos and one VLC video fine without stuttering with the temp peaking at 70 Deg C. Comes back to 55 Deg C with no load and the fan spinning at 2500 rpm silent!.

Only issues is some trouble connecting to Time Capsule sometimes when the RF interference get bad in my area. Switching the channel works on the TC. I had an aluminum cooling base with 4 port USD hub built in and 3 botto fans adjustable with a dial knob. Nice portable setup. Will get the AIR V2 when the SSD gets to 256GB

Quality issues on MBA V1.0

I really think it is poor build quality rather than the flaw in design, also the need for proper QC testing was severely compromised. Remember it is China where they build this thing. Remember the thermal paste application that was way too much ?.

I do not think the build machines even had a few hours of QC testing (Apple's QC test personnel, please tell us how you do your OC), and it looks like the slap together the parts turned it on and then package the thing and out of the door it goes. It all speculation, of course and i hope I am dead wrong on the above. But the number problems seems to imply a very quick time-to-manufacture and lots of corner-cutting.

Is it cutting corners or the price of innovation? They attempted to do what no one else could by making the thinnest laptop in the world with unibody and couldn't foresee the problems ahead?

In my MBA!
I think the first Air was a beautiful thought, but after owning it I felt like all I was doing was watching the fans and temp rise, I sold it after 6 times in the shop.

I now have the new model and what a joy it is no fricken issues at all dudes nothing!
I did by Applecare, Just in case.

sold my mbp penryn for the beautiness of the macbook air. and that's the biggest mistake i've ever done. watching tv shows from itunes, halfway through that, the movie becomes stuttering so i had to sleep the damn air for a while to make the temp lower so i can resume the movie later.

coolbook doesn't help, it even makes the OSX completely frozen even with only setting 800mhz at default voltage.
