Sorry, I guess I'm just used to my iBook which has outstanding WiFi seeing far more networks than any other box in the house.

I'd much rather have something like the APE that brings the signal to my whole apartment, that I don't have to plug directly into my PowerBook. Does anyone know of anything like this?
Unfortunately WDS is not a well established standard, even where it is supported it doesn't always work, as edesignuk and myself can attest to with our recent trials and tribulations.

What might work for your needs is a pair of WRT54G (or similar) devices. You could use one in client mode to connect to your apts. network, and the other to create your own local wireless network connected to the client mode one... By equipping the client one with a high gain directional antenna pointed at the base station you might be able to avoid creating more interference...

You uninstall the Broadband Tuner by running the installer again and when you get the Option button, choosing to uninstall it.

Try running Broadband Optimizer and see how that goes

What's this Broadband Optimizer you speak of, and where can I find it?
I usually get pretty good speed at my home wi-fi network, but more can't hurt. :)

Cheers

Broadband Optimizer

The page is a bit deceptive: click the bold text at the top that says "Broadband Optimizer".
Your mileage may vary with this software BTW. I installed it on my Mac Mini and I went from 2500bps to 1700bps. Uninstalling it brought it back to 2500bps.

EDIT: I should note the speeds I'm giving above were using the speakeasy speed tester. My Cable Modem maxes out around 3000kbps, so 2500kps is pretty decent for the machine which is a whole house away from the wireless router.
