Well I've had my Mac Pro crash a number of times since updating to 10.8.3. It's never done this before. Never had any issues when on 10.8.2 with my 670s.

Mac Pro 4,1
2.93ghz quad
8gb ddr3

Here's the crash report

What's the crash look like?

Does everything on your screen freeze in place (even the clock)?

My 2008 iMac did this running any OS from 10.6.8 thru 10.8.2. All I could do was roll back to Leopard 10.5.8 to have stability.

I'm really hoping the Pros don't suffer from this same mysterious freeze problem.

It freezes and restarts. I think it only does it when using Flash. Like from a game or video.

Also noticed Mail app crashes a lot too. I have it set to open on startup and typically crashes on launch or when I go to open it, it crashes once then works fine.

Well my Mac Pro has crashed 3 times in the last 1/2 hour while watching youtube videos. I went and downloaded and installed the latest version(?) and trying it again to see if it crashes again if maybe I had an older version or something.

Nope still crashes :(

Which browser are you using? Same pages/video crash different browsers too?

Looks like you have a Samsung 830 SSD. Wonder if there's any issues there? Any chance you have an HDD clone that you can try? Possible read/write issue on the SSD? Have you repaired permissions after update and done all the usual stuff that way?

I don't use the 830 unless I boot into bootcamp. I am using Firefox. It also crashes when using the TWC webapp(flash based also?)

Now that I think about it, it may have to do with FF, I think I switched back from using Chrome a few weeks ago and don't remember it crashing then.

yeah, now that you mention it, i've been getting a few random crashes that never used to happen.

namely the screen freezing up and not responding to keyboard or mouse, but oddly, the audio still playing...

My video along with everything freezes and if sound is playing, it skips like a broken record and then my computer restarts. I think I have that option selected to restart automatically when the system freezes so that's why mine starts back up all the time. With the SSD, it's only like 20 second downtime before everything is back to the way it was lol.

6870 here is as solid as ever.

Clearly the 6xx Nvidia cards whilst they work still have some issues!!! [OR: nVidia need to update their drivers for 10.8.3!]

Back to ten point 8 point 2

After the update, I was getting spinning cursor (beach ball) and delays in Typing....called Apple...tried a bunch of stuff per the Sr. Advisor...no help...erased HD used Time Machine to do back up to day before I did the update...went back to 10.8.2...somewhat improved...deleted everything in startup folder...too bad no one at Apple tested this update out very much

Most likely I'll postpone installing the 10.8.3 update and observe further news on this update. Maybe Apple will come out with another update to fix whatever issues on the 10.8.2

I'm having graphical issues with my 8800 gt after updating to 10.8.3. My 120 gt is fine so far.

My text just slowly gets bigger. And for no reason. Odd update indeed;)

Hmm, I've been getting the screen freezing lockups while using chrome on my mac pro as well, but I've never updated to 10.8.3 (still on 10.8.2).

Sounds like other people are having this too. At least I'm not going crazy haha.

Other information:
Mac Pro 2008 model
nVidia 580GTX
Web Browser when crashes happen: Google Chrome

I've had great service from 10.8.3 on my MBPr.

Yet there's no way I'd ever compromise the stellar fast & efficient performance of my well optimized 10.6.8 powered Mac Pro.

I'm enjoying the best experience of any of my Mac Pro's to date. That's priceless.

I'm more concerned about the unsupported video drivers while running a 580 GTX to be honest heh. I'm just looking for a way to stop the thing from crashing when it loads a website it doesn't like haha

It only happens to me once every few days or so, but it's still annoying when it happens.

Played a 5 minutes YouTube video on firefox and it crashes. Played hours of diablo 3 on mac side with a buddy and no problems.

So I'm definetely convinced it has something to do with flash or the web browser. I think playing a game would have defenitely made it crash but didn't.

Before there were times when my Mac hangs usually the culprit was the Firefox browser. But I was not watching any video in Firefox The beachball happens when a new web page is loading. I did a reformat and full reinstall of the OS and ran DiskWarrior and so far no hangs. Though this is maybe in my case and I am not sure if this is the solution.

flash

the issue is with flash. so im not sure what apple will do or wont do to fix it. sometimes they do something sometimes they dont. depending on how many users are effective and if it is within there power to "tweak" a change in there .. base to fix a 3rd party addon issue. HTML5 Video

Try an experimental version of the YouTube HTML5 video player. call it a day.. for awhile. 10.8.3 is a bust

I leave my early 2009 quad-core 2.66 with 4.1 firmware (recently upgraded to a hex-core 3.33 with 5.1 firmware) running all the time. It hasn't crashed once in the last couple of months, either before or after the upgrade, and before and after the upgrade to 10.8.3. I always have Safari and Mail open, and frequently Photoshop, Premiere, and Audition CS6, as well as a host of background servers.
YMMV.
