Just e-mailed Amazon.. the fact that it's now gone from their inventory is troubling. I wanted to save on tax, but now I might just order from Apple..
It is odd. Earlier this week it said "Sign up to be notified..." when it's available. But even that is gone now.
I still show the alert in my account, but who knows if I'll actually be emailed. 9 times out of 10 in the past, I never get emailed.

Just received the following email from Apple:

Our records indicate that when you placed your order you paid for
upgraded shipping. Due to a delay, we may have not been able to
meet our delivery commitment.
Apple has processed a refund for the shipping charge on your order.
Please contact your card-issuing bank for information on when the
credit will be posted to your account.

Something similar happened to the people who paid for iPhone rush shipping because apple used rush shipping for everyone in order to has the phones arrive the day that they were available in stores. I wonder if thats the case here or if there was simply a delay and everyone's will be later. Of course when you ordered an iPhone, it said "delivers by" rather than "ships".
Even if there is some kind of delay it wouldn't seem to make too much sense to refund rush shipping since you'd still get it sooner than anyone else unless they all get the rush shipping treatment, assuming they all ship the same day.

I ordered on September 1st through the Apple Store iPhone app. I got an email confirmation from Apple that the order was received but haven't seen any activity on my credit card. Not then, not in the past few days. I got my iPhone 4.0 the day before the official release so I was kind of hoping I'd be the first on my block with this product.
I had the new iPod nano and the Apple TV on the same order. Priority was selected. Ordered right after the keynote on the 1st.
My card was charged yesterday! I didn't pay for rushed shipping as I kinda was thinking / hoping that pre sale orders would all ship at once and get delivered launch day.
I'm beginning to think that there's been a delay. With Amazon not even having it on sale and with the email above; it's getting worrysome.
Usually in my experience the item is shipped or at LEAST in "prepared for shipment" state within 24 hours of my card being re-authorized and finally charged.
I wish we knew what the hold up was. I am getting so antsy. I sold my old Apple TV a few weeks ago now and I am just dying without it.

I ordered expedited shipping on top of my order also. Yesterday, my account showed a charge for the ATV, and one for the shipping amount. Today the account only shows a charge for just the amount of the ATV. Maybe, and I'm not getting my hopes up, but maybe they are doing expedited shipping for everyone...
Yep my card was charged also. Sounds like they'll be shipping them out over the weekend and we'll be getting them next week.
