I dunno about specifically collecting, but I do preserve things. Take extra care of electronics so I can show my kids/grandkids and just use better equipment. If you know me you'd know it's my own catchphrase almost. but I seem to have an incredibly rare amplifier, Google brings up 4 results, 2 being mine, one being a Polish website I've yet to translate and the other a shop selling manuals only. My dad paid a lot of money for it back in the 70's after word spread about it's greatness. It got locked in the attic for a while until became interested in music and it's now mine. I have never heard something as beautiful as this amplifier. My uncle had bought a £1200 amp some years ago and we compared the 2 - was funny :)

So not a collection. but something unique nonetheless. Though I have found myself gathering other old amplifiers from friends and family in the vain hope I can find something similar. I don't know the names off by heart but I'll try and get back into the attic and photograph them all, must have at least 7.

A few years ago at school I for some reason started picking up Smartie tube lids (yes I am that sad) and my collection steadily increased for about two years until Nestle changed the boxes.

About a year ago I actually applied for a Guinness World Record but they declined the idea.

Well anyway here they are:

Oh and BTW not one of those lids is actually from a tube that I have eaten just shows you how much littering goes on in my small school.

EDIT: Grrr I can't get the HTML Flickr linking thing to work even though I seem to be copying and pasting correctly.

I seem to remember there actually being a guiness book of world records record for this.... I think the guy who has it even has a bag from a Nasa shuttle...

Yeah, a quick Google search shows the record belongs to some guy in the Netherlands, who owns 5,006 bags from 1,000 different airlines.

In fact, the Google search reveals that there are actually quite a few people who collect these things, and some pretty impressive collections out there.

I only have a dozen or so, and it's getting harder because airlines are moving toward the generic white bags rather than having their own logos printed up.

When I was about 14 I saw a stand-up comedian do a routine on collecting airline sickness bags, and it cracked me up so much that I decided to start my own collection. I only fly once or twice a year so it hasn't grown very quickly...

The real question is how to properly display my collection!
